In stanzas 7 and 12, it makes it all too obvious to me. The () lyrics and the non () lyrics form two diffrent stories. when put together seprately... (Sweet devotion) (It's not for me) (Just give me motion) (And set me free) (It's the life I've chosen) But if you do the rest for yourself, the two sets of lyrics almost reverse roles. So my interpretation is: When he has female problems, he turns to pot. Pot makes him feel no sorrow or pain. But, when the pot doesnt work, he uses women to release his sorrows and pain. So it's not that he is saying he needs to stop smoking pot, or stop seeing women. He has got to say goodbye to the way he is using them. He needs to love his women as well as his pot. He can live in harmony with it all. |
