| the video has always just reminded me of surreal dreams. i've actually seen houses like that floating in my dreams, before i saw this video. i think it captures the essence of dreams really well - you don't really know what's going on. the woman in the video could be a ghost but i like to think of it as a dream, maybe partly an OBE. the song also sounds dreamy and like something you're not really supposed to understand while awake.. | |

once during the night i had a horrible stomach ache and then i started listening to my mp3 player, hoping it'd forget the aching and haemoglobin started playing and so in desperation i took it as a sign and i went to the kitchen and drank red grape juice (as it is good for the blood and haemoglobin's in blood and whatever) and then soon after that my stomach stopped aching. thanks to this song! (later on i got a blood test and then it turned out i didn't have enough haemoglobin and had to take yucky retafer pills for two months) anyway, this is one of my favourite songs and for a long time was the most played song on my itunes. i've never thought of it being about racism and i'm not sure about the source who said molko claimed it was about racism. to me it has always seemed to be about suicide. and once reading an old placebo interview i was reminded of this song when steve mentioned he once had tried to commit suicide (tired to hang himself? or something like that, not quite sure, don't shoot me if i remember something wrong, i read it several years ago) |

first off, all the lyrics are wrong. and i've listened to this carefully (to the original and to several live versions) and know quite well how molko pronounces words! this is one of my favourite songs so i have to point these things out.. 1. TOWELS HAVE CHANGED their name. IN a horn of plenty. 2. Even THE crack cocaine 3. to THE naked and profane (not 100% sure but sounds more like the [de] + in that case it's more molko to me) 4. Thunderbolt (singular) and lightning 5. DO WANT you anyway (i want it to be don't but molko clearly, especially in live versions, says DO) (6.) just a funny thing: in one live version he sings "each day a brand new vein, it is very frightening" and starts laughing now, to the meaning, "days before you CAME" the word came to me means "got an orgasm" that would be very molko and the word has a dirty sound when he sings live. "towels have changed their name in a horn of plenty" hmm-hmm, that would even sound logical in a sick way... "days before you [finally] came, [you were] counting breaths inside me" anyway, the drug references also sound bad, like even drugs weren't doing it before molko's partner finally CAME. everything sucked before he/she CAME! |
