ok rdy for something someone has to live to get.... rather we are everything or nothing were something or nothing smart or dumb right or wrong we can never know, and this post is rather everything or nothing...we were brought up with knowledge or brought up with anything but. no one can ever tell us, nothing can show us. Belief is glorious or it is a crutch. When you fail you rather understand that you failed or failing is a mean/end to nothing. I am not justifying a given religion nor am i justifying a agnostic point of view, i just think this song is asking the question. Is one better thinking there point of view matters or is one better realizing it is nothing? end result to this song is exactly "?" |

Hey all, im not claiming im right, but food for thought This album at first glance is a slight against god...its a "why me god"? type of attitude, but lets attack this on a more indepth level. Look at the singers lyrics more closely and learn that he wants to come from nothing. He knows he used to follow the holy word before and longs to do it again. The opening of the CD "sowing season" expresses that he has come full circle. He now has at least to some degree is back with god and wants you all to be with him. The CD itself is (and i need more listeing) like the book of JOB...(for those that are not familiar it is the tempting of a holy man that refukes god in his struggle that was put forth by the devil and is taught or shown light through a friend after many false prophets) God then after JOB being taught the way of life restores his life to him and relinquishes his sorrows. I think...and i say think...jesse (or the singer) is applying that story to a relationship/long for a relationship. **i am not the perfect christian nor is anyone who walks this earth, nor do i want to be a false prophet, these are simply my interpretations of the song...further evidence that this song/album is about JOB was reveled to me last night while reading JOB. Look at verse 41:24, the irony in the title is that the singer says he "used to...ect." in the opening |

**im gonna go segment by segment so you can follow...i think there are two not-so-distinct Charachters in this song. Leaves are falling down on the beautiful ground, I heard a story from a man in red. He said the leaves are falling down, such a beautiful sound, son I think you’d better go ahead. ** This is the Man possibly being tempted by the devil...the leaves are falling down on a beautiful ground...saying there's something nice thats being covered or simply something bad is happening time's are changing. But you always hold your head up high, cause it’s a long, long, long way down. This town was meant for passing through, boy it ain’t nothin’ new, now go and show ‘em that the world stayed round. But it’s a long, long, long way down. ** This is the devil saying you think you big cause you won't give up (possibly on god but could just mean sin) "This town" i take as the world, not heaven, not hell, which is made to be passed through. He's basically saying that he want to be with another so bad but never was given the oppertunity. He feels this way with complete honesty and with only good intentions. He dosen't want to give up his trying but it "gets hard sometimes". This is kind of a back story to the song. From here the music picks up and cuts to. Don’t give the ghost up just clench your fist You should have known by now You were on my list (x3) **As many of you know, and from what i've read, Flowers is a christian and he influences his music with his beliefs. I feel that though its been a long time he still belives that god will make things right. God will allow this special someone to understand just "don't give the ghost up". Its as you were starting to get close to this special someone that god claims that he was there all along and would not let you suffer more then you could handle and is finally rewarding you. Your heart, not able our prayers, they're not fables Let me show you (let me show you) Let me show you (let me show you) Let me show you how much I care Oh **lastly god is confirming once again that you did not go through you life beliving in him for no reason..."prayers....fables" and that he is just as glad to provide for you as you are to recive his gift. So thats just what i think...This song is the Most meaningfull i have ever heard. The Killers do a great musical arrangement and the lyrics are AMAZING...i seriously feel this album was made just for me and am in aww with the skill and confidence these guys portray realsing and album with such a religious overtone. | well by no means am i claiming this song is about this...i am saying it does fit...trying to see a girl/guy you know you can't cause you already screwed it up...you "want to know how it feels to be you" (wanted) and "I have had 9 lives and one by one you chewed them up" (i've tried so many times but no) "i wish i could let this sleeping dog die without lying to myself" (wish i could stop trying) ect...i think it fits anyway | |
