Children of Bodom – Punch Me I Bleed Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this song is about a guy who has kinda screwed over a lot of people in his life, and given them much pain. This guy has gotten so far into madness, and he's just seen what he's done to everyone. Looking back at this, he feels like he's been punched, and he feels remorse, anger, pissed off at himself. He had been "obliterating them" with his life's madness, and he's pissed at himself.

Kanye West – Breathe In, Breathe Out Lyrics 17 years ago
I'm pretty sure this song is a satire about all the mainstream rap that's about nothing, just "money, ho's, and rims". Can anyone explain the reference to Mos Def and Talib Kweli?

Protest the Hero – Blindfolds Aside Lyrics 18 years ago
obviously, to this song, there is the storyline behind the prison guard, and killing kezia. on the deeper meaning of this song, i think its about: Ok, you have a job, and you do it, despite what you think of what you're doing, and the impact that the job has on society (lets say a soldier). but then, something comes along, and it makes you question why you're doing it. This thing makes you see what you're doing, and the value in which the things that you are affecting have. thats what i think of this song.

Alexisonfire – Happiness By The Kilowatt Lyrics 18 years ago
ok, well, i just finished reading the book "welcome to the monkey house" written by Kurt Vonnegut, and this title (Happiness by the Kilowatt) is a direct quote from the short story "the Euphio Question. some of the lyrics are also almost taken word-for-word from the story (What a great day to spend in doors) (In a hail of sparks And a tangle of wires Everything went wrong).

In the story, a machine is invented that sends out a noise from space, that, when heard, makes you instantly happy, and you remain that way until the sound stops. when the people finally awake from the "happiness", they have all sorts of issues (hypothermia, Starvation), as they are happy, and the time kinda flies by.

In relation to the song, the first set of lyrics is when people first enter the trance of happiness.

the wake up is telling people to snap out of it, that its not real.

the "In a hail of sparks" part is: in the story, theres a giant storm, and something falls onto powerlines and cuts the power, snapping people out of the trance.

the second verse, is the people waking up with all these issues that the supposed "happiness" caused.

the "was this what we hoped for" part, is kind of the conclusion. It relates how its not natural. happiness isn't supposed to be manufactured. you can't just create a box with a sound and be happy. in the end, the receiver of sound is destroyed. "happiness by the kilowatt" is a cheap way of making one's self feel good. as has been posted already "it is not the happiness itself that is great, but the pursuit of it". if you're just given happiness, its never as good as it should be. in the end, its about technology going to far, and what let down discoveries can be.

Great lyrics. one of my favourites from them. absolutely fantastic.

Kings of Convenience – Homesick Lyrics 18 years ago
I think this song is just about trying to find something thats missing. You search everywhere for it, but you just can't find it, hence "homesick, 'cause i now longer know, where home is". As well, I think its also about not being able to be the one place you want to be.

Alexisonfire – This Could Be Anywhere In The World Lyrics 19 years ago
OK...where to begin...first off, i think ill start with Overseer's comment...and Ill say "are you fucking retarded?" what kind of band would right a song about deporting immigrants. I really cant see AOF writing a song like that....

Second, sorry to you believers out there, but i dont believe that this song has any biblical referencing or hidden messages about god in it.

Maybe im wrong..whose to say? everyone's entitled to an opinion. My thought on this song is that it is based on a book. The book i actually just finished reading. Its called "Diary" by Chuck Palahniuk...anyone know him? he wrote fight club...good book. if i could, i would write out what happens in "diary", but it would take a long time...instead, im gonna copy and paste from wikipedia (though I wouldnt have written the synopsis the way they did....cause they dont point out how i think it relates to the song....read the book.. this comment will make a lot more sense if you do)

Diary takes the form of a "coma diary" kept by a Misty Marie Wilmot as her husband lies senseless in a hospital after a suicide attempt. Once she was an art student dreaming of creativity and freedom; now, after marrying Peter at school and being brought back to once quaint, now tourist-overrun Waytansea Island, she's been reduced to the condition of a resort hotel maid. Peter, it turns out, has been hiding rooms in houses he's remodeled and scrawling vile messages all over the walls - an old habit of builders but dramatically overdone in Peter's case. Angry homeowners are suing left and right, and Misty's dreams of artistic greatness are in ruins. But then, as if possessed by the spirit of Maura Kincaid, a fabled Waytansea artist of the nineteenth century, Misty begins painting again, compulsively.

Misty discovers the islanders, including her father-in-law (previously thought to be dead), are involved in a conspiracy which repeats every 3 generations. A young artist (in this case Misty) is lured to the island by magical old jewelry, becomes pregnant and has children. During middle age, her husband dies and all her children die resulting in a wave of creativity, the product of which is mesmerizing to the audience. The islanders then create an exhibition of the art work at the local hotel where a fire is started by Misty's daughter, who is revealed to be alive, and all the hotel's occupants are burned to death due to their mesmerization. The result is a huge insurance claim which leaves the remaining island citizens wealthy enough to support their luxuriant lifestyles for the next 3 generations at which point a new young artist will be found to repeat the cycle. Peter, Misty's husband, was attempting to warn her of this plot using his hidden writing and it is revealed his suicide attempt was in fact a murder attempt.

the town is clinging to misty. they need her in order to become rich again. and keep the summer people away. the town also kills people that attempt to stop their plan. The grass would be a metaphor for the predicament misty's in.once she stays in for too long she cant get out. The city is haunted by people thought to be dead, but arent. The "sky and ground" metaphor is much like the grass one. she cant get out.

I dunno. maybe im reaching too far. it just occured to me and i wanted to say something...disguss?
