this is definitely song about gay experimentation. they're practicing kissing to see what it's all about, but fool themselves by saying they're seeing other people. and it's OK, because one is passive and just wants to cuddle, they're not really GAY gay bc they're not really having sex. but then one of them laments why he isn't having success with guys and his friend says he should either "change" (act more gay and attractive) or just give it up and go with girls, at least they know where to put it" as in, knows where to put the penis. great song, gay or no gay lol. |

this is the best arcade fire song, by a LONG shot. haunting lyrics and melodies. i'm not going to repeat what people said here, i think they hit the nail on the head, it's about growing up and dealing with life/death and assuming more responsibility in her family. it's like everyone loves sitting at the kids table at weddings, but one day, all of a sudden, we're getting married, then we're planning our childrens' weddings, but in reality, we miss the kids table :) namaste. |

well, first of all, GREAT SONG! yeah folks, it rocks. second, the title up in here is spelled WRONG! so i couldn't find it under general search, haha. "hear design" lol. anyways, it's "well it must be a SIGN, that my heart is my own design"... makes a lot more sense, to me anyways. i think the songs about being in love and that it's a choice, that he can actually control his feelings to an extent. thus, all the symptoms of love (telephoning, giving gifts, making yourself sick) are SIGNS, or symptoms, that he can control. thus, he can design his own heart... he's not like a leaf blowing in the winds, he's master of his own destiny in his love life. i think lol. |

the first couple of verses is about craftsmanship and helping others in society. it's a commentary on how a society works: one man helping out the others and how grateful we should be. the second is loosely a lament on environmental and societal degradation. i think this fits with the whole sad, gloomy feel of the song. it's truly a masterpiece of a song, the best of 2006 for sure. |
