its about God. hints: "too old to feel an earthquake, too cool to even care. but you aren't even listening, so why should I?" these deal with Matt's disbelief and near anger in how he should be expected to listen to a God who doesnt seem to hear any of his prayers or his cries. "like a broken dam your empty, and all thats left are the sticks and the stones that were built by other people" this is in reference to what society has made God into. To him, he must seem broken and empty. society has made God out to be glorious, but he just doesnt see it, he sees everyone elses delusions about HIM. |

Drugs. this one's about addiction. silly kids who think every rock song is about drugs are the same ones who will be saying every rock song is about girls. This one's about addiction. starts off 'It gives me all i need, helps me coexist with the chill'. Using whatever drug it is helps him calm down, mellow out, deal with whatever is bugging him. "you make me sick because i adore you so" right fricken there ladies and gents, is your meaning. the addiction drives him crazy, makes him sick, he knows it, but he loves, he 'adore[s] you so' 'i love all the dirty tricks twisted games you play on me' hallucination. the feeling of being high. the buzz. in fear of making this comment too long, im gonna cut the 3rd verse into one breakdown. he hates it. he's cut the name in his heart. absolute loathing of what he's addicted too.. however: He will do anything for it. He'll destroy the world for it. he loves the feeling. the seemingly contradictory phrases of this song move to prove the point of addiction. many addicts feel like this, like they are 'meaningless' while they're high. they hate their addiction, but love the feeling of being high, the relaxation it offers. btw, kids, dont do drugs. |
