I'm surprised no one has attempted to decipher the lyrics during the vocalization part of the song. You know, the part that sounds something like "A ying yes." Sometimes it sounds like "paying debts" to me. That would go along well with someone's interpretation of this song being about money. I looked up about a dozen different Internet lyrics for this song and everyone just skips over that part--even though he repeats it a zillion times. Anyone know what he says there? |

I do see the drug reference in this song. I think heroin made him feel pretty for a few hours but when it wore off he felt ugly again. Just my interpretation--I could be wrong. |

Damn, I wish he was still alive. I'm sure he had so much music left in him. This song is probably the most beautiful song I ever heard. He wrote the best music I've ever heard--better than the Beatles--better than anyone else--unbelievable. He'll probably be my favorite artist forever. No one can ever top him. Oh yeah, I'm drunk. This song is about depression. I can identify. ES forever! Good night. |

Is there anywhere I can get the lyrics to the acoustic version of this song? Instead of the line, "Beware of Maya," the acoustic one says something that sounds like, "Beware of labcoats," but I'm pretty sure that's not it. I can't figure it out and it's driving me nuts. |

I don't really think this song needs any explaining; the lyrics are pretty straightforward. I think this is the best song on Mona Bone Jakon. It has a great tune and is just really relaxing. |

Okay, this is weird. Everywhere I see the title to this song on the Internet it's always "A Bad Penny," but I have the CD here and written right on it (and the back of the CD case) is "Bad Penny." So, what's the deal? Did everyone on the Internet decide to arbitrarily add the word "a" to the beginning or was that the title on the original record and they screwed up the title on the CD? |
