I always think 'The verb - to do' Verb is a doing word, pair love and verb together it is physical love. And, I often think that Brandon writes alittle autobiographically, so I 'chose' to imagine this as the song he wrote about meeting Carolyn Murphy, entering in full blown technicolour, being that she's a model and beautiful and all that. I once spent a good 15 minutes sitting about 10 metres away from Brandon Boyd in a public walkway, watching him play with Carolyns daughter. He stood like a man painfully aware of his own status, sort of shrinking away and hoping to be anonymous. hes very tall and incredibly slight in build. I'd seen him play a show the night before and they had performed 'Here in my room'. My favourite line is ' Im wary of eyes upon my scars'... he seemed so wary in real life. Anyway, I don't think of it as a one night stand, I think of it as a song about a life changing moment in which sex happens involving an enigmatic woman to whom he is indebted for providing him life and soul and a reason to be excited. Who takes all his vulnerabilities and consumes him with all of her power. |
