i was listening to the ATT blue room thingy and william said that this song was about saying goodbye to home and the people you love to go persue touring and being in a band things. Seeing as LA is pretty much like the 'music' place.. and chicago's ohare signifies home... throwing cation to the wind and deciding to go on tour and actually persue music. Getting recognized. Realizing what you left behind at home. Coming home to realize that things have changed and you can't exactly change it back. And realizing that you can get through it cause it won't kill you. I love this song... anyone else notice it sounds like beckett is having an orgasm during this song?? i love the line "if you know the way we're gonna die through everything else will survive." i am seriously a fan of tai's new and old sound.. |

The video pretty much gives light to the song meaning In the video he wakes up on what seems to be a normal day and then then his reflection starts moving on its own. What people believe you are and the actual person are two separate polar entities. (mirror william kicks a guy who is on the ground and then throws his apple at him...) the lefty curse part fits in because everything being flipped and reverse means that his intentions and his actions are oppisite (him and what what people believe he is.) The part about the phone in public pool has to do with the next parts of the video. the mirror william takes over his place in life and ends up playing a show with the rest of the guys. it is the equivalenet of him falling off the face of the earth cuase they found someone new. The pete wentz cameo (that fits nicely into Thnks Fr Th Mmrs vid {is that entire deal dubbed? cause it i can never figure out if those are the words that pete is saying}) might seem impromteau but it does fit. Pete, the tabloid king, tells a fretting william that the entire dual persona thing is normal. That what people think you are and what you are aren't the same aka having an evil twin comes with the territory. At the end of the video william goes to attack his evil twin (who just licked some womans face) when he lunges at him he, the crowd, the band, every sign of life disappear from around him. He is left on stage with no one watching curled up distressed and alone. This entire deal is about fame. They are getting it and they know where its gonna take them. (very apt and kinda clever for a single) I do like this song (i didn;t at first but then it hit me and i liked it alot). I do like their new sound. |

I love this song.. the mix of the music and patricks voice leaves you (well at least me) stunned... The lyrics and the music help eachother with what they are trying to convey.. Its a perfect ending to a stellar album. But to the song... Its about him and a groupie, one he obviously knows well.. he searches for her. They end up going out to a club, chitchatting, shmoozing, getting drunk, and doing regular insignificant date stuff.. mostly just rushing to the cheap hotel room. When he says he left his conscience in the bible.. hes saying that he left all of his humility and forethought in a book that promotes it in the drawer out of sight and not with him. and he doesn't care, he knows whats coming, he knows hes gonna get screwed over. They have tried a relationship over and over, but it never works. She keeps on pitying him, but never loving him... thats where choose love or sympathy comes from (i know it was awe or sympathy... but try saying/singing that with out sounding like our sympathy). He keeps on running back to the same source of anguish, the one he wrote tell that mick.. about (or felt extremely similarly about). I think that she has been cheating on him, even though theres no real relationship going on.. She is also the one that is the reasons for the song's existance. he keeps on trying to drill her place into his head by swearing to himself that thats all that she is. And she is also swearing to her friends that what she says about him is true (like "i can't believe he still loves me... its kinda sad" etc)/ and going off and kissing another guy. she can't keep her mouth shut about him, but yet he still ends up in a hotel room with her, and he watches her dress as he leaves her there cause he can't help but care, but he can't help but consciously hate her for what shes done also. when he says loose lips sink ships hes saying that her incesant gossiping and her being with this other guy ruined them... yeah.. thats my take |

i think that this is a good example where people will start crying "SELL OUT BOY" or something equally not so clever and to that effect. but i think this is showing that they aren't selling out. They are just doing what ever the hell they want. and this is what they wanted to do. I know some of the "die hard fans" would love it if they spit out FUCT or TTTYG again, (or would you?). But true diehards would be able to see them making music is about making music that they want to make and you guys standing behind them. selling out would be them making music just for the public (fans included) and not for them (now do you realize where im headed..) SO if they wanted some hip hop in their music then its up to them! not you! and also i know most of you would have a hissy fit if they didn't grow as artists. and they definatly did. (in my opinon in a good direction) now to the song. I think the very beginning is a little un-homogonized but it comes together quickly. the lyrics aren't different. Kanye's part is very to the point so meaning wise this isn't so hard. and sound wise i like it. Its fun and funny. I think they remixed a track for him.. i wanna hear that |

i think the title is a nod to him being the "king" of the emo scene "they say quitters never win we walk the plank on a shinking ship theres a world outside of my front door that gets off on being down" the meaning changes depending on where you consiter the divide. If you take "they say..." to "...sinking ship" you have either way you slice it we are screwed, so we are taking the "plunge". if you take the whole thing it says we are screwed, but you swoon over us for it. |
