Ok, I think this song is about having social anxiety disorder. If someone has SAD (social anxiety disorder), they usually seperate themselves from social interaction, confliction, and general social situations. This, to me, matches with the lyrics from the first verse, as in "Damn you": I don't like this situation, you, and you for making this situation. "Stay away from me": Go away, I am uncomfortable, and need to feel safe. "I got a disease": Social anxiety is a disease, and whether you agree with this or not, it feels like it. "Fuck you": Essentially this, "fuck you'. "For putting hate in me": It's easy to blame the fear on someone else, as don't do anything wrong. "For putting faith in me": If you think a situation will go right, and it doesn't go how you want it to, again, the blame can be passed on easily, if, again, it's no-one fault. And "Everyone was sleeping": No-one seems to understand you, whether they do or not, it feels like they do. It's very hard to talk about SAD in detail, as it can be extremely personal. So, it appears people "turn a blind eye", or are "asleep" on the disorder. So, there you have it. Also, for any people who think I'm guessing at half this shit, I suffer from social anxiety disorder. So ner. |

This is the last song on Side 2 of "Dammit!", 311's first tape. Um, the song is sorta hard to "decipher", because a) the full lyrics aren't shown; and b) it's a pretty crazy song. But, from listening, it sounds like it's retelling a psychadelic experience one of said band members had. "Everything seems turning and the jam starts to break" The music wails and swirls in your ears... "(??) circles and red and not pink"" ...like a psychadelic scene in a movie (the trippy moving colours, etc.). "Thriving to the scene" (the lyric itself) might be about kids who are pressured into drugs by their friends to "thrive to the the scene" (as in being cool). The last verse I can really decide anything about it, so I'll leave it out. Well, whatever it's about, it's a pretty fucken cool song. |

I really like this song, I love how Nick can drive a song using only his voice. I've always thought that this song was about semi-lost love, the first line, "Won't you please let me go These words lie inside they hurt me so" is like he's saying that 'our love is dying, just stop trying' , and the last line "I've lost you" seems to reinforce this for me. Well, that's my two cents. |
