| The Academy Is... – Dear Interceptor Lyrics | 18 years ago |

i roughly know what tis song means it fits perfect for my last relationship SierraJasey is almost dead on it heres the part you missed though "Wait for me, I wanted to feel this safe. I can't hear you scream, hold the phone to make it better. I can't hear you..." William is very confused, just like I am right now. He wants to be with her and feel "safe" and not have her cheat on him or whatever. but at the same time he wants them to feel intense pain just like he is but he cant know for sure if they are or not because they wont open up. "Hold the phone to make it better" i think thats saying to be more direct and not play so many mind games because he wants to "hear her scream", or feel hurt. thats what i got out of it anyway |

you guys really think that adams that shallow? i dont think anyone would right a song making it sound like hes trying to rape his girlfriend except maybe eminem but thats not the case this is just a song saying that hes fed up with his girlfriend not agreeing with anything he does and hes had this kind of relationship before so he knows where its going so hes dumping her the title of the song "number five with a bullet" doesnt make much sense to me but oh well and the thieves thing is saying that if they keep dating or whatever theyre stealing away better opportunities of real love for both of them it might be about sex because its saying that if they dont take chances then its useless and theyre gonna die miserable |

to ledzeppellin222222 you have a very good point i think all of us wanted for this to be a love song but the truth is the reference glass house could mean a relationship that you can see through and so its really predictable but the thing is its just sort of an inside thing between other people who have heard the song follow the format though im sure adam writes lyrics to mean several different things and lets his songs be interpreted by the listener (like all good musicians do) so this songs probably about john but dont get the wrong idea man you have really good interpretations of the lyrics great job |

| Taking Back Sunday – Twenty-Twenty Surgery Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
alright well look this entire song is metaphoric it has nothin really to do with cosmetic surgery well adam probably had a relationship that wasnt what he expected and hes leaving with all the luxuries which are symbols for his humanly emotions like pride and stuff like that and the part where it says "its not the quantity..." hes just saying that it doesnt matter how much or how well he loves her its the reason that he does which was the reason he came and the reason he left the twenty-twenty surgery represents the realization of the fact that its not working and not real and the (cheap) dollar signs represent the physical humanly things like beauty and stuff that really isnt worth anything and i agree with ledzeppellin222222 that the end is sarcastic that hes not a machine and she is and that maybe hes too sensitive but oh well thats what i got i think its pretty valid and makes perfect sense amazing song very catchy chorus |

well dude it sounds to me like its about john and how much he misses the old taking back sunday the first verse is definitely about john just look at it "we move slow like daytime drama i'm boring like his songs" pretty much saying they werent going anywhere together so its time to move on because they cant just keep holding on to the same old songs and memories (hence, boring like his songs) "So while I'm takin' you for granted we'll be hummin' along" thats just saying that while john was still in the band, adam didnt really savor it as he should have and theyre just kind of humming out the music and not putting so much passion into it the second verse talks about how john tried to cover everything up with straylight run, which caused more problems and the part where it says "cuz a long night means a..." is just talking about how adam and john both kinda regret the whole incident and are losing sleep (fist fight against your pillow) and all in one it says that they are trying to solve their problems through unneeded violence and stuff like that the chorus is just saying that adam feels as though he was obligated to be in a good friendship with john especially after the whole jesse lacey incindent and he kind of broke the trust but he doesnt as though he really did "well cross my heart and hope to--" thats why the phrase is cut off because he knows that hell break his promise or whatever "im lying just to keep you here" adam's saying that its not really worth it but he tries to keep the friendship going and the rest just shows how he feels john is just taking control of him emotionally and how he could really care less (which i think is sarcastic) "Well one of us never did it, but were takin' it all And tell me why you never promised that you wanted it all" this just says that john seemed to never be prepared for the hardships of the friendship and wants to put all the blame on adam "This glass house is burning down You light the match I'll stick around I'll give you everything you want and wish the worst on what I was This glass house is burning down You light the match I'll stick around I'll give you everything you want and wish the worst on what I was" i think that the glass house is a reference to follow the format, which is also about the feud between john and adam but i think this is supposed to be through the voice of john its saying that its over and that adam 'lit the match' so to say and johns just sticking around to watch everything go to hell and for the situation to hurt him and not adam and that john gave it his all but it turned to shit in the end these are some intense lyrics and i hope i made sense but yeah this seems to be the only song that Adam's kind of apologizing to john in a way and wishing that the whole thing never happened hes not blaming john in this song beautiful song the best one ever written these guys are amazing |

to bluechair07 you are a dumbass alright all music has emotion to it eveyone feels hurt for somebody so it just makes sense to pour that emotion and hurt into song so go ahead and call these bands emo, but it doesnt make them any less beautiful and any less meaningful cause the rest of us will listen to this song and cry while your out being a stone cold piece of shit alright? so fuck you. you can call me and the rest of us what you want but it doesnt matter what you say well still have the same love for our music as we ever did, perhaps even stronger i hope you read this you son of a bitch |

| Taking Back Sunday – Follow The Format Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| okay i change my mind you guys got so much more out of this than me and i feel really dumb now | |
| Taking Back Sunday – Follow The Format Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| to me its obviously about a relationship. i think the reference 'glass house' is talking about the position hes in with his g/f or friend (MAYBE John) as being a place where hes kind of trapped in and the glass part showing how easily you can "see through it" and how predictable it is. i think these are the best lyrics taking back sunday ever wrote and this was the song that got me listening to them. and to the dude who said this sounds like a fight, it does hint that but i think theyre not really like fist fighting but i think its symbolic for them resolving theyre problems in an unreasonable matter | |
