| The White Stripes – In the Cold, Cold Night Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Everytime I hear this song, I cry. I've always interpreted it as a a girl having a secret lover, one she can never see in daylight because of the illicit nature of their relationship. The passion she has for him outweighs any notions of right or wrong, or public opinion, so she continues to let him creep into her house late at night. I'm sorry to say I know exactly what that means right now. You know what the right thing to do is, and that is to end it, but when that hour of night comes around...it's hard to not answer the door. I think her voice compliments the song perfectly. It's a simple song, and to have an extremely good voice would drown the lyrics. |

| Rufus Wainwright – The Origin of Love Lyrics | 19 years ago |

The original was from Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and in the movie I believe it was John Cameron Mitchell who sang it. This song makes me cry everytime I hear it, especially when he Rufus says: "But I could swear by your expression That the pain down in your soul Was the same as the one down in mine. That's the pain, Cuts a straight line Down through the heart; We called it love." If that's not the perfect description of love, I'll rip out my own heart and eat it. |
