Heard this and thought it was AC/DC knock off. They sound very similar in every way, but I don't care, these guys are outstanding. This track was big in Saskatchewan for a bit so I hope that spreads. It's time to bring back good music. |

Agree with CharmingMan. I first heard this on a "Best of Family" compilation and it started the first album. Since then I've found this group to be so underrated, it's unbelievable. I think their music should be considered the same or maybe even a bit better than Led Zeppelin's stuff. Nothing against Zep, either. |

Yeah i definitely agree with the above two statements, its either sex or their past. Perhaps both, and they just weaved them together.
I must admit upon first hearing 40 Licks, I wasnt impressed with the other 3 songs they wrote (apart from "Losing My Touch"), this one to me now is amazing. I dont know why, I just erally took a shine to it. It grows on you! |

I think this is just kind of a write up on the Blockheads, as if they were some kind of rock and roll mafia, but then again, they almost coulda been!
*I suggest getting Ian Dury: Reasons To Be Cheerful, the compilation, the U.K. version, it has an outstanding live version of this song!* |

Oh yes, sorry, the meaning? Keith claimed it was that the band was sick of hearing how all the fans would mumble "Oh, this wasnt as good as their last album", this and that, so they wrote the song. Makes sense when yoiu think of it taht way. |

This song was actually Ronnie Wood's, him and Mick Jagger cut the original track with David Bowie. There was another track, Mick had, '(cant remember the name of it), and Mick said "Ronnie, I'll keep It's Only Rock and Roll, you keep the other", and Ronnie agreed.
Even more interesting, when Keith heard it and found out Ronnie did all of the guitar, he made sure all of his guitar parts were erased. Keith then re-did them.
This was the first contribution to The Rolling Stones Ronnie Wood made, although it was credited for Jagger/Richards |

Well I know that the one part "Sometimes the price..", I forget which member of the band said it, but if you read the inside booklet from Surrealistic Pillow, he claimed $65 was the price of a Kilo of marijuana at the time lol |

If you watch "The Biggest Bang" DVD, Mick and another guy are discussing which songs they had to censor for Shanghai, after the songs were listed, Mick claimed "Oh, so we can talk about dead men cumming and bitching", obviously this song is about sex. |

Definitely one of my favourite Airplane songs, it's got such a lovely, relaxing tune to it. This song and a few others have turned me onto the band, I'm currently finding how amazing they truly are. As for what this song is about, im not totally sure but I have a somehwat fague idea.
I believe its just the band, or whoever may have composed this, looking back because they've realized this is the end. "If only I could live to see the dawning of the dawn", they're unfortunate because they realize that they cant go on forever; they'd love to see how the world revolves. Full circle.
Amazing song. I encourage any of you to buy the album! Bark, their last studio album! |

Great song! The first single I've heard off of Endless Wire. Man alive, he's still got such an amazing voice!
Obviously this song is just being fed up because he is just never satisfying this lady. She always wants more and more. |

This is such an amazing Stones song. Anything off of Exile On Main Street is a real treat. It was funny, cause as soon as I threw this in the speakers in Gym class, a classmate claimed 'this song sounds like summer', now I always think of that! The horns go together so nicely with it, too. |

I love this song, it's probably one of my favourites on Exile, as well. Especially the end, where he's singing "Be my little baby for a while"; and the saxophone sounds like its in loops. Thank you god for the rolling stones :D hahaha |

I love this song! Especially the "Stonger than dirt" part; which they put because that was the slogan of the Ajax cleaning company, because apparently the song resembled an Ajax tune. Also, he used it to mock the band's criticism for selling "Light My Fire' to Buick! Hilarious! |

I was skeptical to buy this album cause i wasn't too much into the dark/soul i heard samples of; but ladies and gentlemen, DONT LET THIS STOP YOU! It is now tied with Space Oddity and Ziggy Stardust for my favourite album of Mr. Bowie! |

All about the wrong girl, and definitely about heroin, too. I saw him perform this on the Bigger Bang tour, and it made me respect him as a singer so much more. Everyone says Mick is the leader behind the Stones, but i'd have to disagree. Keith is the operator. |

I believe this song is about drugs, I mean think of it: "Roll up for the mystery tour" , and its saying how the 'mystery tour is hoping to take you away'. I just think its about them offering pot or something to anyone who wants a good time loll. And yes, I love this song, as well. |

This song has a catchy, yet haunting tune to it. Especially when it slows down to the 'I strolled around to her pad' part; it seems like you can't keep up with the slowness, as weird as it sounds. Regardless, a must have for any Barrett or non Barrett fan. |

This is an amazing song. And nope, Syd Barrett wasn't in his mental breakdown while recording this album. He slowly drifted away at the end of this album during their American tour |

| David Bowie – Looking for Water Lyrics
|
I believe this song is David talking about religion. How?
When he mentions "I lost God in a New York minute", made me realize, he's looking for something to save his life (looking for water), and when he says
I can't live in this cage, I can't eat this candy
The edge of the earth to the spin in my head
The look in your eyes and never means never
The dawn's early light, baby, dark is forever",
I believe that's him saying that he can't keep on living without a firm belief in something, because hes going to live a terrible life after.
I don't know, that's just what i thought about the song. |
