i believe this song is about how love is always near you even when you don't see it. even when you're investing yours in somebody who doesn't love you back, there's still someone somewhere who does love you even if you don't accept it. |

i agree with himtopia, cobain isn't even in the same calliber as elliott and never will be. his music was so much deeper, elliott's was. cobain gave in to fame and elliott remained the most modest man the world's ever seen and any fan of his knows this. wherever you may be, elliott, thank you for making my life more beautiful. we all miss you. |

i'd assume it's about a guy falling for a girl soley on how she looks. though he comes to find that she uses her looks to compensate for the fact she's shallow and has nothing to talk about. additionally, when she must rely on what she says, she uses gossip as an attention getting mechanism. it's about a girl who is rather dim but is aesthetically perfect. |

i have a zine with my friend and for one of the issues i did a comic based off of this song. my take on it was that there was a girl who shows up at this party hoping to look so great and so happy to be free from this man that dumped her. she's used to getting hit on so she expects to be this show-stopper. then, in the comic she trips while entering, making a complete fool of herself and someone reaches out to help her up and it just happens to eb the guy. he looks fantastic and she thinks he's flirting with her, maybe hoping to rekindle the old flame but much to her chagrine, he's engaged. she's so shocked by this that she runs into the bathroom crying. she looks terrible by this point in the comic and is making a feeble attempt to fix herself up. after doing so she reaches into her purse and pulls out a vile of nitroglycerine. lining the cigarettes left on a table with it, she walks out with a sick smile as the man's new fiance asks for a light. it sounds kinda dumb but it was fun to make. |

i was home alone when i first listened to this one. it scared the hell out of me. i had to stop listening because i got so bothered by it. that doesn't happen to me a lot. i can't listen to it anymore unless i'm in the company of others. thought it is a very pretty song. |

i really don't think it's drugs. why does everyone assume that, honestly? elliott may have taken them but it's not like that's all he ever thought about. did anyone notice how the track following this one on the "figure 8" album is called "everything means nothing to me"? symbollic much? |
