A) I don't think she was stoned at all when she wrote this-beautiful lyrics aren't always done under the influence of a substance.
B) She's very talented. But that's understood.
C) The music is heartbreaking, and wonderful. |

I love this song, it has such a wonderful sound & meaning to it. And for some unknow reason it reminds me of the line from the Moulin Rouge "The greatest thing you'll ever learn is to love & be loved in return." |

I think the line "You're a big boy now so let's not talk about growth" is about the Verse 1 & 3 persona being mature & grown up but still making immature, stupid choices like drug use, and his friend, or girlfriend or romantic partner knows he won't ever wise up. |

I saw him live and this was my absolute favorite of his songs. I had to search the world over to find it. Matt's a very talented fellow. |

A sleight of hand would fit better. Because it would mean his mother intended for him to be a 'house cat' |

Yeah this song is about what you- the listener can do for the world. I didn't see the interview, but I've seen the video and it's regular people and the band fading in and out of scenes of poverty, war, viloence ect with large red words flashing, words like 'Apathy', 'poverty', and 'destruction' So I think it's about the apathy the common person and what they choose to ignore because of selfish motives instead of 'letting love in' and trying to change the state of things.
p.s I think the lyric is actually
'Everything they ignore
Is all that I need to see' |

Sadly, I too can relate here. With the lyrics
"it'd be better to forget you
but I don't really want to"
I agree that the guy she was interested in was flawed, a real creep who was leading her on and never considered her feelings for him even though he had to know about them because he just kept letting her down time and time again. |
