I've always seen this song with three options... 1. Relationships. It's about being in a horrible relationship before and now the singer in going into a new one and he's scared that things aren't going to work and he's gonna be hurt again. The chemicals are like their chemistry with each other. And on and on think about the rest yourself. 2. Airbags. Yea. Oddly enough it does fit the song pretty damn good. The car frame failing him in a crash and the airbag to carry him through. It could snap his neck or it could save him. When I got in my crash my airbag broke two bones in my face and gave me seven stiches. The chemicals are just the chemicals in the airbag (there is a powder in them if some people didn't know). 3. Anti-depressents. The chemicals are the anti-depressents and how it should work for him. But then again the whole "you could save my life, you could snap my neck" would be if the anti-depressents make him worse instead of better. He knows what it's like being betayed in his life and his frame could be his mind failing and becoming depressed and he wants the anti-depressents to work. |

I love this song a lot because I can connect with it. Trying to quit habits and trying to get friends to quit some habits. This song is definatly about one person trying to get another person to quit. The other person is addicted and the first friend is keeping the second from getting their fix. The second person has become a druggie and has problems and didn't really acomplish what they could. The first friend is kinda doing the whole tough love thing. The second friend doesn't really like it though even though the first is trying to explain it. I love the ending the best. It's like the first friend is talking about starting up the habits thinking nothing will happen, but the fire (habit) is controling most of their lives now. The whole play it again part seems like the first friend was telling the second friend that is they hear this and their high (or whatever) that they need to play the song again when their sober. It sounds like Dustin is screaming while crying when he yells out the last line. |

| Thrice – Of Dust And Nations Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| "Don't store your treasures up, with moth and rust, where thieves break in and steal." is a passage from the bible. I think that this song (and verse) is about how people put trust in so many other material things instead of God, and how that won't matter because people still things and in the end everyone will be judged and no one will be left. SO pretty much people waste their time on worldly things when in the end it means nothing. Jesus was born in a manger to show us that in this world money means nothing, just faith. | |
| Thrice – Like Moths To Flame Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Ok Thrice isn't a Christian band but that doesn't mean any of their songs are allowed to be Christian, I think a lot of them are but not being a Christian band lets them sing a lot more variety of songs. This song always sounds to me like Peter denying Jesus. What I always wondered after this song is if Thrice got their name from the part pf the bible that Jesus says Peter will deny him three times. (Three is the same word as Thrice, it goes once, twice, thrice and that's all I know.) | |
| Thrice – Music Box Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| When I hear this song I think of a soldier that has been there for a while talking to someone new that is having problems going out and fighting again. "We move for all mankind," is telling him we come here to fight for everyone. There so far from their homeland but everyone still prays for them. How many ways things can go wrong. The veteran soldier has seen so many horrible things but he still knows so many other soldiers are out their fighting and people at their homeland still love them. That their country is fighting for what's right so wipe your tears. I think that the "Asleep we saw ourselves," is talking about that veteran solider talking about a dream he had about seeing himself where ever and everyone is watching the war. And then the end is just talking about why the veteran solider is fighting to encourage the other soldier. | |

I see how people think that you could use the girl as a metaphor for religion because it makes sense to when you do that. Personally I think it is about someone saying they love a girl and changing themselves to be with her and the singer doesn't like it. Saything that he is gonna want the stuff he left behind before. I love the second verse cause it's like the singer telling him to do what he did before to other girls. P.S. I love songs like this where you can find more then one meaning to it. It makes it hard to figure out which one is right but you can listen to the same song for different reasons and a lot more people listen to the song because it means something to them. |

| my brother is a paramedic so this song makes him cry, and my mom and i both listen to music for the words so we cry too when we hear it. i love this song. i want to be a combat medic in the army rangers and i want to get a tattoo of a paramedic cross with "there's a difference between slight of hand, and giving everything you have" on it. | |
| Say Anything – Woe Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
ok i'm going to break it down piece by piece on what it means to me "all the words in my mouth that the scene deemed unworthy of letting out banded together to form a makeshift militia and burrowed bloodily through my tongue and my teeth i stood proud in the gallery with my open socket of a mouth for them to see they all just laughed and said "that boy he, that boy's got woe, woe he lives with woe, woe" -i think that it's someone who isn't popular because he isn't with what is "in" at the moment and he's wierd but he still does his thing (standing proud) and letting everyone see. and everyone can see that he's got problems "and this girl who i met whose pride makes her hard to forget she took pity on me, horizontally but most likely because of my band" -he probably met someone and then had sex but he thinks that she didn't really like him it's just because of his band. "and that's all i can get when i'm lonely and these visions of death seem to own me in the quiet of the classrooms all across the stacked united states of woe, woe we live with woe" -he doesn't really care because he is happy with what he gets since everything is full of woe "she said "i can't get laid in this town without these pointy fucking shoes my feet are so black and blue, and so are you" -she's telling him now that she has the same problems as him, but she's making him really see it and realize it "please take me out of my body up through the palm trees to smell california in sweet hypocrisy float in my senses, surround my body i wake my nose to smell that ocean burn" -now he wants to leave himself and go to somewhere he heard was great like california even if it isn't anything like people say as long as he can feel something good (float in my senses) "so now i'm forging ahead past all the plutocrats who sold me out go sob in your bed if life is twice as pretty once you're dead then send me a card i'm still the optimist, though it is hard when all you want to be is in a dream" -now he's gonna try to make a difference and fix things. he's passing those who did him wrong. don't let anyone see you cry. but still he wants to know that if things are better once your dead then let him know, but until then he is gonna make the most out of everything he has just in case there isn't anything after dead even though he wants to die and go to that "twice as pretty" world |

| My Chemical Romance – Mama Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| it sounds like at the beginning he is talking to his mom about how he thinks he is going to hell for killing so many people and how his other soldiers friends are going to. pretty much the end sounds like he and the other soldiers are drunk in a bar, like mentioned before, and they are all getting drunk because they have to go to battle tomorrow and think they are going to die. | |
| Modest Mouse – Edit the Sad Parts Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think that it is about losing something that made him feel so alone. How he wanted to be loved again and how some things are so different now. Thats what I think and I also think I went to deep. | |

| Lamb of God – Blood Junkie Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| YOU KNOW WHAT IF THERE WEREN'T ANY SOLDIERS OUT DYING FOR YOU NOW THEN YOU WOULD'T BE ALLOWED TO SAY ANYTHING YOU ARE AT ALL RIGHT NOW. YOU WOULD HAVE YOUR HOUSE BROKEN INTO, AND EITHER BE KILLED NOW OR LATER FOR BETRAYING YOUR GOVERNMENT. SO SUPPORT THE TROOPS WHO ARE FIGHTING TO LET YOU BE ABLE TO SPEAK YOUR MIND WITH WORRYING ABOUT AND UZI BEING POINTED AT YOUR HEAD! | |
| Lamb of God – Ashes of the Wake Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| yobbo and sacrificed you guys are fucking retarded. with out war America would be new britan and germany full of nazi's that want to take over the world. when the fuck have canadians ever done anything that affects the world. the most they have ever done was sending troops to the Mace in WWII, and they came late and nearly ended up getting the Polish army killed because they were so fucking slow. and how about the Iraqi's go and blow up Place du Portage and lets see if you wanna go get them back. Americans take pride in there country and if you fuck with us we will fucking fight back! | |
| Thrice – Phoenix Ignition Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I agree with DoNotOverfill, thats it is about getting back up, and how when he was knocked down he had all these choices, the violitions, and how he'll asend back up and try to reach perfection although he knows that no one can | |
| Disturbed – Numb Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| yea it is deffinatley about having his heart broken and how he has gone completely cold and numb | |
| Breaking Benjamin – Unknown Soldier Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i think is about a soldier "Unknown Soldier" and how he has seen more than he wants to. He just wants to give up and not have to go through it anymore, and just to have him either die, or jsut forever zone out. well thats my idea | |
| Green Day – Wake Me Up When September Ends Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| well I must have been the only one here to see the music video. It shows him joining the military and being in probably his first part of combat. and in the beginning of the video he gets into a fight with his girlfriend for joining. | |
| Modest Mouse – This Devil's Workday Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think it is about how the people who are logs don't really matter, and how hes his own god, meaning that you can do whatever you want to it doesn't matter he decides what goes on. | |
| Linkin Park – Papercut Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| its about being paranoid, it's so easy to tell | |
| Disturbed – Sons of Plunder Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i think the lyrics go "a thin reminder" instead of "a fear reminder" | |
| Disturbed – Sons of Plunder Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i think how its about rap music, and how people get so obsessed and will start dressing gangster, and how that can get peeople in fights and how they get "brainwhashed" and how familys can get "torn apart". | |
| Disturbed – Sacred Lie Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| its about the Iraqi war and how now this really isn't that much of a threat, "defending no one", and Bush has even said this is going to be our childrens, childrens, war, "the war is far from over now" | |
| Lynyrd Skynyrd – Sweet Home Alabama Lyrics | 18 years ago |

| i think jerseydevil7 is right, that it is John from the Bible, it does make sense | |
| Thrice – Under A Killing Moon Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
To me the song is saying about how civilians in Iraq are being killed my some Americans because of what they did. "the blood on our black gloves it is none of your concern" That would be a soldier coming back after killing some random civilian, and another soldier saw some blood on his he didn't clean off. "Don't flinch when innocents are dancing with the flame if they wanted to live they'd learn to play the game" I take that as, if they want to stay alive they shouldn't mess with us, and they should do what we tell them because were pissed at them and are taking control. That is what I take of the song. Don't think I don't support the troops though, I want the troops to stay deployed and I want to become and United States Army Ranger when I get a little older. |

| Thrice – All That's Left Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I always take this song as someone who has lost all of their faith, in any religion. How they were so strong in their religion but then something happend that changed their ideas, "but the answers never csme". Now they reqalize that with out their religon that they are already dead and that they need saving because now they realize they did the wrong thing,"we are the ones who lost our faith we dug ourselves an early grave we are the dead, can we be saved?". | |
| Thrice – In Years To Come Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| this is one of my favorite sogs, i think it is more about some one he is in love with and would do things like take a bullet for her, the first line, or something like that | |
| Thrice – Music Box Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Personaly since I want to join the Army, I cry when I listen to this song. "We move for all mankind, a million miles from everything we've ever known", I take as how everyone thinks about the soldiers and how they have to go so far away. The chorus I wake as a soldier talking to somebody that has giving up hope that people are still willing to fight for what they believe and not to give up hope. | |
| Thrice – Paper Tigers Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think this song is about September 11th. It is true that Americans do think highly of themselves. "listen for the sound, as it all comes crashing down", is just when the World Trade Towers fell and that everyone realised that America isn't as safe as they thought it is. "and we paid the price, we paid for their crimes with our blood and our lives", that is talkinhg about how those who died payed the price for us Americans being so cocky and making us realize that were not that good. | |
| Thrice – Of Dust And Nations Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| o think this song is about the world ending and how that it needed to be ended because everyone thought that they were in control "the words you've written in stone", and how God is the one to destroy the world, being the alpha and omaga | |
| Thrice – Cold Cash And Colder Hearts Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i think this song is about how Americans take themselves as the best, and that they dont care abouyt other people as long as they stay on top, and have the nicest life that they can for themselves | |
| Thrice – Don't Tell And We Won't Ask Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| the way i have inerpreted this song is that it is about someone against war talking or maybe an old soldier thinking abgout what he has done, and now he regrets ever doing it "but don't we all bleed red blood? don't we all bleed red blood?" that he has realized that everyone has their problems and we are all the same, thats what i take of the song anyways | |
| Gym Class Heroes – The Queen and I Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| i think it's about the girl being drunk and after that i dont really care cause this song keeps me intertained , even though i hate songs when i dont know the words | |
| Thrice – To Awake and Avenge the Dead Lyrics | 19 years ago |
