I think something can be said about Kele calling him Eugene and not father or dad. Later he goes on and calls out to his mom using mother and not her name. Maybe there's some pent up anger for the way his father raised him to be a man who doesnt show emotions. "Being a man made me coarse When I wanted to be delicate". Also I loved silent alarm and hated this album. Now I can only listen to Weekend and rarely do I listen to silent alarm anymore. It has a deeper meaning, it's more complex, and more honest. |

Every great band after them, has at one point or another listened to the Pixies. It is a must. Like a class you must take before you can graduate. | To me, in the spanish part he sounds like the biggining he is just humming a jinggle. He does this all the time so it would make sense. Nothing I have read so far makes sense. Sounds like he is saying da dee da dee da, a que hora? Maybe I am wrong but I know spanish and thats what it sounds like to me. | I always thought that at the end he was saying "Lets try to brighten on the weekends". I thought so because it went well with the song. | I believe this song represents a couple of people who started as friends and became lovers. I believe the relationship switches titles but they never part completely. It's like an everlasting relationship be it as friends or as lovers. They love each other period. It also delves into seeing the relationships withing the relationships swtching as well. When they are lovers they each have friends, when they are friends they each have lovers. Great song again, I wish there was a studio version. I think in the beggining he says something else after New York (sounds like eyes or ahh). PS - 1st again! | |

| 1st!, but yea, I really liked this song when I first heard it on the Zwan DVD. The live version is very different than the first version with Corgan singing alone with an organ. The live version has the same lyrics but includes the whole band and has a lighter tone to it. I wish there was a studio version but Billy had enough of Zwan sadly. | |

| I agree that this song is great. I think many people are missing the point of the lyrics. The song sounds kinda messy and so do the lyrics. The lyrics and music I think describe perfectly the feelings and anxiety you feel when you are breaking up with someone who you thought you would be with forever. You don't know where to go, what to do, even what to think. You just become very primate and say/think a bunch of things kind of like he does in this song. Very dramatic but simple minded with a twist from a genius mind. | |

The whole song is being sung with the words of the other person. The only actual words that Smith says to them is "Sometimes you make me feel Like I'm living at the edge of the world Like I'm living at the edge of the world". It is the only words he speaks to the person who feels like they are dying or death is coming. I get the sense that this person who is "dying" either doesnt know they're dead already or have come to terms with the fact that the end is upon them. I think it's about a dying relationship and how it feels. Sounds like the relationship has been dead for a while but now they are finally coming to terms with it. Finally saying it and accepting death. At the end he tells her says "sometimes you make me feel like i'm living at the edge of the world". Sounds like he's telling her he feels like he's been hanging on to the relationship even though she's pushing him out. She explains to him that it's just who she is and she's never gonna change. Therefore the relationship is done. Great song. |
