According to their live CD, this song is about a conversation Chris Trapper (the lead singer) had with his Uncle Charlie when he was young. I love this song, because I agree with the premise. It's ironic that so many people believe in some sort of afterlife, yet mourn and weep at funerals. Shouldn't it be a happy occasion? Well, until then, Carpe Diem.
