I'm not sure if the song is about a girl named Amelia Bright that the narrator is in love with or if it's about a dead person named Amelia Bright who's grave the narrator is laying near. |

Ok, when I went through some serious crap this songs finally made sense. Helped me alot. Anyway it's a song from the perspective of a friend to someone who's really having a heck of a time figuring themselves out but they don't want anyone to know. The person is contantly trying to be something specific and evertime they aren't it gets them down. They constantly try to change themselves to be more perfect or something and they put up a front in the mean time so noone catches on. But a friend will catch on, and that's the other thing the song is about, is how friends will always know and always be there. I dunno, I've been there though, trying to change myself and failing, always trying to grasp up at stuff I want to be or stuff I'm missing and failing to realize I already had what I was looking for. I was always hoping for everything to click and it didn't, not the way I was thinking anyway. When you've been there it all makes sense. |

| it's actually pretty obvious what the song is about. It's about the things we do to prevent things that might happen later on. More specifically protecting yourself from the possibility of a failed relationship by convincing yourself you don't actually care so you aren't emotionally invested in it, that way if it fails you feel nothing. Much like one puts their wallets in their coats to prevent pickpocketing and how lawyers are very specific and write all sorts of clauses in just in case. | |

I always picture this song with Hospitol Song and Army. This song in particular seems to be about a guy, probably in a small plane that crashes or something, and it doesn't really seem real to him as he starts to sink. he has one of those experiences where you feel like your watching things happen, and when he realizes he snaps back to reality, but is too hurt to save himself, he can't surface so he stares up thinking he's coming up. But eventually he's saved, in a coma or something, he can't respong but he's aware of what's going on, though no one knows it. Then I see it linking to Hospitol song in that perhaps the dude in Hospitol song is the same guy in recovery, but the crash hurt somethign too much so he's gonna loose an appendage or something, so he lays there and thinks about things, one of which is the Army. I dunno, works for me. |

there are two interpretations I have come to: 1: It's about a girl waiting for a guy to pick her up for a date but she used to guys being late, and, again, this guy is, very late so she starts to worry about what could have happened to him. Meanwhile a friend sees this happening and wants to be there for her, but she's not really letting him be. 2: It's about a girl always waiting for someone to ask her out, waiting for the right guy, but the right guy is a friend she already counted out because he was a friend. So she waits and never gets the call while her friend looks on hoping she'll eventually come around to him and realize that he's an option too, a person who truely loves her and knows she would love him if she would give him the chance. I like #2 better, it fits better. |

It's pretty obvious. It's about a person who can't trust anything, who digs through people's stuff to try to know the truth, paranoid to the point of beleiving that someone might beable to read their thoughts and see their dreams and also trust so little as to beleive that the version of someone they see in their dreams is what that person easily could be. Basically, they can't trust to an extreme and that makes them impossible to trust. |

Actually I have this song on a CD right after Clocks, I noticed immediately with that CD that they shared a general pattern. Also, I'm not sure the song is about anything, I seem to recall reading somewhere or hearing that it was kind of a spontainious thing they did on the spot then added lyrics to later. |

Actually, if I recall correctly, Ben has said he invisioned Verne from Over the Hedge as a scientist that can't take change so he keeps his face up to the microscope only to find out that even those things that seem still are changing. To me it's a song about being resistant to change. Guy 1 says "it's only change" Guy 2 says "Only everything I know" Guy 1 says "Even the things that are still are still changing" The I see Guy 2 come to the harsh realization that he can't stop change. Also I love the verse about someone wanting something constant and then listing things that person themselves has changed, like haircuts, addresses, boyfriends and even lightbulbs. |
