not sure if this has been mentioned or not but i truly feel that this song is about graduation. it's an excellent metaphor; I'll break it down. Closing time - open all the doors and let you out into the world: you finally graduated and are now out in the real world. Closing time - one last call for alcohol, so finish your whiskey or beer: it's the last party of your high school life so live it up. Closing time - you don't have to go home but you can't stay here: obviously meaning that the school's job is done, they did their best in raising you the smartest they could and now your on your own. Closing time - every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end: your new beginning is you in college, in the work field, raising your children and the other beginning's end was ..needless to say, high school. Closing time - time for you to go back to the places you will be from: you'll find yourself living on your own in a whole different city/state and that is where you'll be from now. hope that clears a few things up with some people who still stop by and read some of the comments like i do :) |

well, as I said, this song reminds me of an anthem to the men and women fighting for this country right now. "Resolute a stance of defiance always teetering on the brink" --- You form as one but it's hard to keep control when you're being shot at by the enemy. "Covered in sweat and blood yet still our heads held high" --- this is the part of the song that really sticks out to me...all of them are fighting for us; bleeding, sweating, exhausted, yet, they're still fighting for what they believe in. "Actions have consequences when you live for foolish pride." --- Don't get too big-headed because it'll surely catch up with you. "stand together one passion one hate" --- they're all unified as one. they all have the same objective. And obviously, the last part of the song reflects the men and women in uniform. For all who was wounded, they'll definitely use their scars as medals of hope because they know they fought for something worth fighting for // a better tomorrow. I have a friend in iraq right now and he came so close to dying. his humvee got blown up and he lost some of his hearing and now he's diagnosed with post-pardum depression. He's coming back home in November, and I can't wait. |

I've been listenin' to this entire album non-stop for the longest time and until I heard some guy rant about Me vs Maradona vs Elvis about how that song is about Record Co. taking advantage of bands the album clicked -this album is a concept album about becoming a signed band- "Sic Transit Glory" - The girl just wants to fuck him for bragging rights, to say that she had sex with a guy from a band. "I Will Play My Game Beneath the Spin Light" - He's getting tired of performing and just wants a home cooked meal and some time for himself. "Okay I believe You but My Tommy Gun Don't" - The time where the band starts gettin' a big ego, they're signed, making money, they're considered the best and they know other bands that aren't signed are jealous. "Quiet Things Noone is Suppose to Know" - It's not about marriage or anything of the sort, its telling that he can't walk out in public without gettin' recognized and all ppl do is talk to him about his music so he's getting really tired of it "Your friends are boring me to death" "The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot" - Just explaining how his band is starting to be labeled as an Emo band so they can't do anything else but express how he feels in his songs. "Jaws Theme Swimming" - The band is getting tired of everything and they want out but they signed a contract that they cant break so they're stuck. "Me vs Maradona vs Elvis" - Already said, the band is gettin' huge so what does the record co. do? they start exploiting the band for the co. benefit. "Guernica" - Someone is dying in the family and they wanna go see them before he dies but they have to keep going on with the performing because the record co says so. "Good to Know That if Ever Need Attention All I Have to do is Die" - Now they're gettin' pissed, they wanna do what they wanna do and they're gonna fight for what they want to do because enough is enough "Play Crack the Sky" - I believe that this song is about the band splitting up, as most bands do. "What they call love is a risk, to always get hit out of nowhere By some wave and end up on your own." Meaning its gonna come out of nowhere that everyone decides that its over and everyone is gonna leave. It took a lot of cigarettes and a lot of coffee to really understand what the cd was about. I obviously could be wrong and I respect that...everyone has their own opinions with music. But if you read this try listening to the cd and keeping that the concept of this album is about becoming famous and then when all the fun is gone...so is your soul. |

I believe this song is talking about a kid who is still a virgin, so his friends go out and buy a hooker for him and when he's getting ready, he doesn't actually wanna do it, but to just hold her close and feel the affection of having someone there for him "He is the lamb and she is the slaughter" She's taking his virginity with no regard to how he feels about it as a slaughterer would take a life of an animal with no regard to how it feels about it.
