| Say Anything – A Walk Through Hell Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i kind of go back and forth on what this song could be about. sometimes i think it's about a guy who loves a girl more than anything in the world and would do anything for her,and sometimes it actually makes me think of God. some of the lines in the song could relate so well to how God feels about us. for example... "and if i could swim, i'd swim out to you in the ocean, swim out to where you were floating, in the dark, and if i was blessed, id walk on the water youre breathin, to lend you some air for that heavin sunken chest" (could be about how someone has fallen away from their faith, and God is going out to save them and bring them back into faith. the lines about walking on water especially create imaery of jesus, and the line about lendin air to your sunken chest could be about giving new or eternal life) "and id slay the horrible beast they commissioned, to steer me away from my mission to your eyes, and i'd stand there like a soldier with my foot upon his chest, with my grin spread and my arms out in my bloodstained sundays best, and you'd hold me, i'd remind you, who you are, under their shells..." (God fought Satan and sin to save our souls, and He did it because He loves us. the line about his 'sunday's best' also made me think of church lol. He would take us out of the path of sin and remind us that we are all His children.) "i'd walk through hell for you, let it burn right through my shoes, these soles are useless without you, through hell for you, let the torturing ensue my soul is useless without you..." (of course, Jesus actually did walk through hell for us when He died on the cross, and He felt that it was completely worth it because of His love for us. although, i have to admit, the line 'my soul is useless without you' applies more to us talking about God than God talking about us...thats what always throws me off.) "and if they send a whirlwind id hug it like a harmless little tree, or an earthquake, i'd calm it, and i'd bring you back to me, and i'd hold you in my weak arms like a firstborn..." (this brings up imagery of Jesus when he calmed the raging storm at sea. and, of course, imagery of us being God's children with the line about the firstborn.) "Now id walk through hell for you. Whats an adventurer to do but rest these feet at home with you?" (now He has brought us back into faith and on the pathway to paradise, so all He has left to do now is spend the rest of eternity with us.) this is just my take. i am pretty catholic, so this kinda popped into my head as i was hearing it haha |

| Samantha Ronson – Built This Way Lyrics | 18 years ago |
wow, these lyrics are seriously inaccurate what i think this song is about is basically the same theme we get from 'mean girls' - a girl is labeled as a slut or a mean bitch or something, and everyone is convinced that's what she is and they keep telling her that, and eventually she believes it herself because that's how she acts and that's how everyone sees her. people assume they know her right away, but there is always more to her. there is always something under the surface that nobody bothers to discover or accept, because she's just a typical bitch, slut, etc.. it's almost like she's saying, "i would escape from this stereotype i've been trapped into if i could, but my society won't let me. no matter what i try, they continue to label me in a narrow-minded fashion. so, i just submit, and act the way they believe i should." |

| The Beatles – Tomorrow Never Knows Lyrics | 18 years ago |
To sean 7711 and ultraspamboy: This sont is inspired by words from both the Tibetan Book of the Dead and Timothy Leary's "The Psychedelic Trip." So, I think it is about a sort of spiritual death and rebirth, and how this could be achieved through the use of acid or LSD. |

| Radiohead – House of Cards Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| slarson, i thought the exact same thing when i first heard this song! It reminds me so much of Ihe Ice Storm. also, the overall sound of the song reminds me of an icy, grey, cold, overcast day, which fits in with the (obvious) setting of the movie. | |

| Moby – Porcelain Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i think that the lyrics are meant to be surreal and difficult to understand the song is so dreamy and in the lyrics he speaks about his dreams, so i think that its supposed to sound like a story in a dream you have dreams are strange and disjointed and difficult to understand at times, like the song the song itself is a dream is what im trying to say |
| Amy Winehouse – Tears Dry On Their Own Lyrics | 18 years ago |
yeah, the music is 'ain't no mountain high enough' i hoped she payed the royalties and didnt pull a vanilla ice lol... but i think its interesting that she'd use the music of a song so upbeat and happy and romantic with words that are so tragic and sad |

| The Beatles – Long, Long, Long Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"the weird bit at the end was an accident ...a glass of water started vibrating on an amplifier and george quickly threw in an unearthly wail! " ^^ This is NOT true... the noise you hear is not a human voice. Also, the noise was not an accident, but intentional. the noise you hear comes from an empty bottle of cheap wine called Blue Nun wine that they often drank. Paul had left the bottle on top of the leslie speaker of his hammond organ, and they discovered that when he hit a certain note on the organ, it would cause the bottle to start rattling. if he held down the key, it would keep rattling until it started vibrating quickly enough to make that creepy wail sound you hear. it pretty much works like a tuning fork. george thought it was a good idea to put this in the song because the song is about God. The unearthly, almost celestial sound is fitting to something as mysterious as God. |

| Oasis – Wonderwall Lyrics | 19 years ago |
There was a movie that came out in the late 60s called 'Wonderwall.' It was about a man who lived in an apartment block with other apartments. One day, he discovers a small hole in the wall separating his apartment from his neighbor's apartment. When he looks in, he sees her and falls in love with her. It's a really psychedelic musical of sorts, with George Harrison creating most of the soundtrack. So, I think this song is about the person you are absolutely infatuated and enamored with. |

'Pet Sounds' is definitely an amazing album it was actually indirectly inspired by The Beatles' 'Rubber Soul' And when Pet Sounds came out, it directly inspired the Beatles to make what I think is their greatest album ever, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band |
| Grateful Dead – Sugar Magnolia Lyrics | 19 years ago |
this song probably was drug induced, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's about drugs one interpretation i've heard is that it's about Goldberry, who is the wife of Tom Bombadil in the first LOTR book. she's described as like the perfect woman, and some of the song's words are very similar to the words of the song that Tom sings about Goldberry |
