| Ou Est Le Swimming Pool – Better Lyrics | 14 years ago |

Here are the actual Lyrics: Well it's important I'm reminded sitting home alone in silence then you came to make things better started with this stormy weather but I don't find myself deserving and when I do its so unnerving think I'll wait just as expected wait for you to clear this mess up The silence helps instead of talking the quiet walls are more help than a friend could be 'cause they can't see the things I see Things have got a chance to get much better all I've got to do is go forget her throw away all of my thoughts inside me but after all what kind of life would that be Things have got a chance to get much better all I've got to do is go forget her throw away all of my thoughts inside me but after all what kind of life would that be Another day of people calling another day of me ignoring I just can't stand the pointless calls they drive me up and down the walls I'm searching for the strength to eat I'd rather drink fall off my seat now there's a feeling hard to beat I told you that my life's complete Now here's a picture I always see I see her hand in hand with me and guess who's in there when I dream of course it's always me and there comes a point in someones life when it's the time to take a dive image stands, forever shines I'm glad to say that she is mine Things have got a chance to get much better all I've got to do is go forget her throw away all of my thoughts inside me but after all what kind of life would that be Things have got a chance to get much better all I've got to do is go forget her throw away all of my thoughts inside me but after all what kind of life would that be Things have got a chance to get much better all I've got to do is go forget her throw away all of my thoughts inside me but after all what kind of life would that be |

| Breaking Benjamin – The Diary of Jane Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
I don't think this is about a 'girl called Jane', I believe Jane is an any-woman, to stand in for any partner: "Desperate, I will crawl / waiting for so long / no love, there is no love / die for anyone / What have I become" The lyrics seem to have been written from the perspective of a hopeless romantic, sick of getting their heart broken & going insane, but still trying to find a meaningful part for themselves in someone else's life...in the Diary of 'Jane'. |

| Birds of Tokyo – Waiting for the Wolves Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
On the surface I think the theme of this song came from a loved-one of the lyricist, waiting for him to come back from tour. "They're telling you you're number one" and "Underneath the scales and skin it's just sell sell sell" are references to the music industry, and Birds Of Tokyo's success. However the second verse is the true emotion behind this song: "You're here to entertain the world but they won't change you" etc. as well as the repeated line "You've been waiting for the truth to spell out the end of you" I believe indicate that the song is about throwing yourself into a passion, even a love, but even if you're the biggest rockstar in the world, it won't give you the meaning of life, it won't actually help your head, no matter how long you wait and how much you surrender yourself to something you happen to be good at. As much as we love Birds of Tokyo and their music helps us with our issues, we can't actually help the lyricist with his issues, no matter how much we love him. Unless of course, you are the lyricists loved one in which case you ask them to come home, to be with loved ones rather than abandoning your health, head, well-being to angst (and performance). |

| Tears for Fears – Broken Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Forgot to mention: I think 'Funny how time flies' refers to the fact that once you are 'broken', life is actually less torturous as you get on with living rather than searching out all the answers. Personally, although I'm glad to have a more happy life, it also feels like I've left the Great Question behind and that if I had searched longer I would have figured out how to make EVERYTHING alright. |

This song is beautiful, and although the lyrics and music are melancholy, the tone of the song is lifted by the singer and the energy. To me, the song means as we try to process trauma, or just come to terms with life, as we get older it doesn't get easier or clearer, but we learn that we can embrace the absence of meaning ourselves - we are broken, but you know what, it's better than just being in pain as you are breaking, and perhaps we need to break to get by? |
