Okay so I've got a problem with the third line below: Five bodies Zero sleep You've sent me out on a limb to hang myself high above these dirty streets I DO NOT hear him say "you've sent me out on a limb" I don't even begin to hear that in the album version. Like, what???? What he says doesn't even sound close to that... I hear at least 10 syllables before "hang myself high above these dirty streets." And I almost definitely hear the word "Fuckin" somewhere when he supposedly says "you've sent me out on a limb" Can anyone clarify this? It's been killing me for years, and I somehow remembered this old-ass login for this site haha |

| at first i really thought it was about drugs. coming down just makes me think of that. but after really reading the lyrics, then some opinions of other people, i agree wholeheartedly that it's just about being in a rut and that's why he's giving out "opinions." because he thinks that they will come down to his level of lowness soon. if he were talking about drugs, he wouldn't define his statement ("you will come down soon") as an opinion. | |

i definitely can't disagree or dismiss this thought... as a writer, the names used in songs and/or song titles can really have a lot of meaning that no one but the writer himself would really know about. but since Isaac is well-known now, and people look into his life and interactions with other people, it's not far-fetched to think that he is referencing this specific "Dan." so, good observation! @xmoodudex he's not going to openly talk about drugs in an interview like that. it's definitely about drugs. just like other people before me said, the chain reaction of the drugs spreading starts in the parking lot where the convenient parking is way in the back where the exchange happens. and you're waiting there to "bleed" or spread onto the big streets and the highways and other cities. and these other cities (not your own hometown) are built to store (keep) and sell these drugs. and you're feeling real dirty waiting there because you know the that context of what's happening isn't what most people consider a clean way of going about things. dont be naive just because he puts on his happy social acceptable mask during an interview. |

dont overanalyze it... "it's not like we'll ever be together" could mean together AGAIN. i write the lyrics and sing them for my band. it's often EXTREMELY hard to say exactlyyyy what you mean in your lyrics. but as long as it gets your thought out, it's enough. my guess is that it's more likely a relationship that ended than one that almost happened. and if he says "be together" i wouldnt think it's a friendship. being together usually is an indicator of a relationship :P |

i love this song. it's one of my favorite songs ever, but i cant listen to it as often as other songs. it's better once every so often, i dont know why. and hill law means, i think, how we just work monotonously (i think i spelled that wrong) all of our lives, for the most part.. but, not individual makes much of a difference. liquid clocks, i agee with everyone who says it's his drinking that consumes time. |
