Smack:
dead on sir, with the defending of Minor Threat.
I hate this debate though because emo is such a vague term these days, that any hipster can label anything they feel has a shred of "emo reminisces" as part of the genre. |

I'm kinda with Repairman on this.I'm not too sure it's an ending song, It seems to me to be more powerful to convey that feeling of just being scared shitless of loosing someone and the inability to express that to their love. It seems to me to be more interesting and honest for the song to be about a very guarded person working through the feeling of being vulnerable. A relationship may end and fade, but that feeling and sorta flaw is going to stick with person, so it's even more powerful in its panic. |

Every listen makes me fall in love with their music even more.
This almost seems to me a kinda mix about talking about a girl or multiple girls because I really can't see someone who is into hair bands going through liking that whole time period...unless it's the hair bands and emo connection because they're pretty much close fashion wise. |

the only way to really listen to this song in my view is to listen to the 67 New York Sessions version of the song, it's just perfect with the song. |

Yeah, I agree with the love aspect. I doubt that it's a political statement because their lyrics seems to be more abstract. In "all the wine", they talk about a birthday candle in a circle of black girls. I think they go for more imagery than blunt messages. |

Indiana is an odd place (Shannon's from Dayton, Indiana) , god you despise it. Yet when you're away it seems to linger in your mind. God Bless Shannon, good guy too bad I never got to meet him. |

I just give them credit
You know when you say something a number of times and then it doesn't seem like you're saying the words right after a while?
If I were to sing this, it's turn to chicken based crying or something way off like that, so I give them credit just for keeping it on New Day Rising. |

never the less if you take the abusive angle or even keep it in. It still describes about 89% of women I know....don't get mad, look at it as more of a reflection of the women around me, not the gender as a whole. |
