| Jack's Mannequin – Restless Dream Lyrics | 12 years ago |

This song is about a girl he loved who never quite became his lover, because it's "a letter to the one who slipped away, a letter for the things that never start". Everything else is how he feels about this person, in a wistful but not bittersweet way. He writes this song "from a grounded aeroplane", which I think is a moment in his life where he takes a break from his busy life, like a delay in his flight. This is the moment that he remembers this someone, and all the things unsaid. Beautiful, poetic lyrics. McMahon is a genius. |

| I think this song can be defined in two words: grief, and longing. | |

"This is the sound of my noise Just static bombing my head, I've got a mouthful of all the wrong words And all that you said This is the sound of my voice Ticking loud in my head This is the way that fills me up This is the sound of my voice Ticking bomb in my head This is the way that fills me up If I could walk on water If I could walk on water If I could walk on you If I could hold you up If I could hold you up," I think, haha. I love the expressiveness he has in this clip, though I prefer the cleaned-up version. I do get the sex imagery, but I think it's more than that, that he truly is missing the person he is singing about. I didn't get the sex imagery that much until I actually looked at the lyrics, especially not when just listening to the song. |

Right at the start, the song kicks you right in the face, making you full aware that it's about someone he loves. I think "starting to ache, thinking of you," means that he's either been in the relationship before, or that he's wasted chances to talk to her and make things good. He comes out clean, in that, admitting everything, that he'd do anything for her, "I could go play the fool for you", and in "there's so much I can fake, there's only so much that I can prove" that he's not going to try and pretend anymore. "lights, camera, action" is probably just a movie-theme filler line. "I think I'm going to it this time" connotates trying. And he's going to go about that by "there's something you should listen to, can I take you for a car ride?" Feels a lot like young love. I could direct a video to this, I should think. Haha. "well, I'm a wreck, I really can't explain it, but I hear music when I look at you." How it feels to want to put a song to every moment of your life, and wishing the world could hear it and sing along with you. "orchestrating the song to accommodate the moment; I'm so in love with you." Emotion coming out full-force, there, because there's no other way to say it, other than "I'm so in love with you." The next verse seems to be set in the said car, during the said car-ride from verse 1. Just driving to nowhere, and he could be singing it to her, in the car. "we can make this last forever; we don't have to fear the sunlight." He's moving in, psyching himself to tell her. Then he "takes a chance, and steals away this movie moment". Admits it, "I'm deep in whenever I'm with you." He's hoping, "directing the scene that has you and me forever". Then he tells her, and the song ends. I don't think it concludes as to whether or not he is successful in asking her to love him in that way, but he sure is a romantic fellow. 's rather fairytale-like, I should think. It's a great track, really. The sort of song you'd sing to a girl right at the start when you're still so in love, and nothing else matters. |

The song seems to be about someone he loves and respects. It can be a relationship, but it can also be about a close friend, probably of the opposite gender. I think he's looking for a connection between them that could have been lost. It's being sung to the other party, which gives it a personal sort of touch. It's a rather sad song, but it's pretty emotional and effective like that. I personally don't think it's about God, though. Nonetheless, it is a beautiful track, instrumentally and lyrically as well, I should think. |

| Maroon 5 – Must Get Out Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I think this fellow likes the girl, but he doesn't know how to get through to her, so he's writing this song. Perhaps this girl is in an abusive relationship with another man, and refuses to show it. There is, however, an undeniable special connection between the singer and the woman in question. By "fumbling through your dresser drawer", he's searching for something, and then he "forgot what I was looking for" which somehow seems to connotate that in the midst of searching, he's discovering so much more about this woman he just might love. I don't think the chorus means anything in particular; it reads like a tangle of emotions and is probably that. In general, it's a reference to her, and him asking her to let him take her away. I'm not sure that "all of the things you put me through" is negative, but in this case, it sure does make him sound crazy. Haha. Great track, by a great band. If Maroon 5's got anything, it's an awesome groove to all of their songs. |

I'd say, it's about being unsure. It's about hesitating and then taking the risk. It's about someone who might be playing your feelings but you want it to be real. It's about waiting and longing and wanting because there is no other way about it; it's something to go for, or just wait and then go for it. There is no other way, when you're in so deep. This song kills me, it does. |

One of the few Ben Lee songs I like. Sincere, hopeful, pretty darn real. Can relate to this, and I'd probably sing it if the right girl came along. It's the whole thought process thing. Sweet. |

| Spitalfield – I Loved the Way She Said "L.A." Lyrics | 19 years ago |

"You say the things you say And you're dreaming like you do You know, sometimes, circles run around you Hey now let's be honest I really think it's true You know sometimes we all bend the rules You run your life, you've been around You love to live to hate this town And I hope you dream just like you do Yeah we've been here twice before You want it to mean so much more And I hope that everything goes through She goes to California, oh California's not so far When I close my eyes and wonder where you are And you wish upon a star Two thousand miles doesn't seem so far You play the games you play, You win, sometimes you lose You know, sometimes walls run into you Now you've got me thinking And I really think it's true That the sun shines sometimes for you You run your life, you've been around You love to live to hate this town And I hope you dream just like you do Yeah we've been here twice before You want it to mean so much more And I hope that everything goes through She goes to California, oh California's not so far When I close my eyes and wonder where you are And you wish upon a star Two thousand miles doesn't seem so far." Haha, apologies, I had to do the whole lyrics fixing again. Random (yep, walls run into you.), innocent (some say naive), and sincere as hell. Spitalfield is pretty hopeful, I must say. In general, anyway. |

| Spitalfield – Maybe Someday Lyrics | 19 years ago |

"I'm meeting luck at the corner store, I'm taking back, you're still wanting more. Is this the way I'm supposed to act? Why can't I get this straight? You can't break something you never made. I’m turning to myself, make my cd again Why can’t I get this straight? You can’t break something you never made I’m turning to myself, make my cd again So tell me what you’re thinking ‘Cause I don’t really know you all that well And maybe someday more than you will know So come on turn it up now ‘Cause I can’t really hear you like before And maybe someday more than you will know Staring cold at this picture frame I wish I’d never heard your name Glad that my wishes don’t come true And I will not ask you again and again Why you push off again and again And you make me say again and again Why you make me say Why can’t I get this straight? You can’t break something you never made I’m turning to myself, make my cd again Why can’t I get this straight? You can’t break something you never made I’m turning to myself, make my cd again So tell me what you’re thinking ‘Cause I don’t really know you all that well And maybe someday more than you will know So come on turn it up now ‘Cause I cant really hear you like before And maybe someday more than you will know So tell me what you’re thinking So come on turn it up now So tell me what you’re thinking ‘Cause I don’t really know you all that well And maybe someday more than you will know So come on turn it up now ‘Cause I can't really hear you like before And maybe someday more than you will know." Awesome song, probably about some girl or something. The lyrics bothered me so. Those above in the ""s should be correct. Covers frustration, anger, and yet some subtle longing, because it's not so easy to put someone down. Great track. Anyone with the mp3? |
