| Audioslave – Exploder Lyrics | 19 years ago |

the chorus is simply saying if you've never been in this situation/felt this way you couldn't possibly understand a person who has. like people who think you should just 'snap out' of depression etc. people are too quick to condem and judge people who find themselves in situations that others could never imagine. the first verse could be about a man who is mentally retarded. 'locked away for things he hadn't done' - he doesn't realise what he has done, in his mind he hasn't done anything wrong. 'innocence' could be used to describe his childlike state of mind. he could be smiling because he doesn't understand his situation. the second verse obviously deals with depression/suicide and psychosis. Again the whole of society are quick to judge and create stereotypes for people who suffer from these illnesses thus the chorus- how the hell can you judge people when you've never experienced what they have? the final verse is about how we criticise people who share the same traits as us , then we eventually come to realise we are just projecting the things we dont like about ourselves onto others. makes sense to me lol. |
