this song is amazing its just...i love Amy Lee and look up to her in many many ways!!Ive taken parts from others as i feel they fit in really well,but this is my thoughts towards it!! " Playground school bell rings again " " playground school bell " Shows us that she was at a young age when this happened, still in her school years and referring to the yard as the playground gives us the image of a young girl. I think that the " school bell " is referring to a child that has died, and this is her trying to remember. " Rain clouds comes to play again " Rain resembles tears and sadness, While I think the clouds are there to resemble everything being so unclear to her, maybe trying to remember back to when this person was alive or when she was given this news. I also think that the rain clouds resemble depression as one. " Has no one told you she's not breathing? " This is the first time that we can relate the song with death. Here, I think this line is about her not believing what she has been told and she's acting as if everything is just normal. This leads to people wondering if she knows about what has happened. " Has no one told you she's not breathing? " Is just a nicer way of saying don't you know that she is dead. " Hello, I am your mind giving you someone to talk to " This is a voice in her head., subconscious, trying to bring her back to reality. She doesn't want to believe that this someone has passed. "If I smile and don't believe, soon I know I'll wake from this dream" She's acting as if nothing has happened, even though she knows it has. She believes that if she forces that its not real hard enough it'll turn out that she was right and she'll soon have things back to normal. In this line we can see that she is just living life in the moment and trying to put off thinking about what has happened. But deeply inside she is slowly fallen apart. " Hello, I'm still here, all that's left of yesterday " There is still that voice, but now she is in a better state of mind and is coming to terms with everything. " All that's left of yesterday " This line shows us again the image of death. At one point " Yesterday "that person was living, but now she has to come to terms with the fact that she is left from them days while the other person in her life is not. |
