| The Shins – We Will Become Silhouettes (Postal Service cover) Lyrics

I think if it makes you happy it makes you happy. It makes me happy. The slower Iron and Wine version is a little depressing but this one and the original are cheerful to me. It's like yeah an atomic bombs gonna blow us up and we're gonna explode but fuck it, we'll become silhouettes and be connected so much more than our bodies possibly could. I think the body represents something solid and materialistic and the silhoette is our soul. |

I love this website but I hate when it gets out of hand. Under add your comments it says..."what does this song mean to YOU?" Not Bob Dylan or anyone else but how do you interpret it. And it's annoying when people flat out tell people that they're wrong. If I think this song is about drugs then who gives a shit, other people can have their views too. I realize that this song is SO much more but the point is, it's not right to tear people down...freethought people.
Anyway I think this song is eloquently beautiful. |

Woooooow. Whoever doesn't know this is a cover needs to listen to Jimi's version ASAP! It'd be hard to appreciate this song without hearing it from the genius himself. But John kills this song (kill in a positive connotation =) His guitar solos are too amazing for words. But I get completely different feelings from his version than Jimi's. Just ask the axis can mean whatever you want it to mean. In Jimi's I think of the axis as some kinda higher power but in John's I'm not sure... |

Oh and I think all of Jimi's song should be enjoyed even when you're not under the influence of drugs...but let's face it, they're still all the more amazing when you're "experienced." |

Ahh, I love Jimi and I love reading all of this discussion about this song whichs happens to be my absolute favorite Jimi songs and one of my favorite songs all together. I don't know if there are words to describe this song...I just kinda feel it I guess. Just like I think Jimi couldn't find the right words to describe his feelings so he used color. This song really helps me when I have feelings that I can't pinpoint.
I'm not religious but I think I'd consider myself somewhat spiritual and when I think of the axis I just think of this higher power (not neccesarily god) but something...something kinda unknown that's way beyond all of us. This song is way beyond me, it's just out of this world. I'm almost positive that me and Jimi's souls are married. |
