Sweet! First Post! I love this song. This is what got me hooked to In Fair Verona. Anyways. I was sitting in church this morning and we were reading the Psalter lessons. The verses where 71:1-16. I couldn't help but notice the connection between the lessons and the song. Let Me Explain. 1. "Rescue and deliver me. Turn your ear to me and Save me" ~~ Psalm 71:2 "Rescue me and deliver me in your righteousness; incline your ear to me and save me" 2 "Be My Rock of Refuge" ~~ Psalm 71:3 "Be my rock of refuge, to which I can always go; give the command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress" 3 "Deliver me my God from the grasp of evil" ~~Psalm 71:4 "Deliver me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of evil and cruel men" 4. Okay. I haven’t deciphered the whole song. But some of it I kind of understand. I think that they're talking about Christ return, not the flood because they say “Chastisement worse then the flood”. So that most mean the flood has already taken place. There is also the possibility of the story of Lot. Right after the flood. When the say “Dust the apple off, savor each bite, And deep inside you know Adam was right” they’re talking about Adam and Eve. Everyone has heard the story when Eve committed the first sin by disobeying God and eating the apple. This made mankind sinful and wicked”. I don’t know why they say “And deep inside you know Adam was right” because there is no part in the bible where Adam tried to persuade Eve not to eat it. For the story of Lot. The time took place after the flood. People had already stopped believing in God and man was very wicked. God sent a prophet to tell Lot that he was going to destroy a city. Lot told his family “Get ready, we will not be here tomorrow.” The next day God destroyed the city. “Walls are falling, churches burning, women ravaged, children crying, flesh is tearing, some still fighting in this world of misery” |

When I listen to the part of the song close to the end where Shadow says: "The day has come for all us sinners, if your not a servant you'll be struck to the ground. Flee the burning, greedy city looking back on her to see there's nothin' around. I don't believe in fairytales and no one wants to go to Hell, but we made the wrong decision and it's easy to see. Now if you wanna serve above or be a king below with us your welcome to the city where your future is set forever." It makes me think about Judgement day. Jesus is supposed to come and decide who goes to Heaven and who goes to hell. If you serve and belive in God, you'll go above to Heaven, or if you want to act like a king on earth you'll goto hell. I don't know. Thats just my interpritation. |
