kozmic tequila thats a really good interpretation. i think this song is also just about relaxing and having a good time ("let the lovin take ahold cause it will if you let it"). i dont know about you guys but i get the most amazing feeling when brad sings "its so nice, i wanna hear the same song twice." like everything is gonna be okay and there "really aint no time to hate" |

i painted "i'm drunk by noon but that's okay/ill be president someday" on the wall of my high school. in my opinion one of the best lyrics any band has ever come up with...it just goes to show how amazing sublime is. rip brad and lou dog |

im probably wrong, but for me the first 2 verses make me think that anthony's remniscing about the 60s. I dont know who Arthur J is, but the "boulevard" could refer to the Sunset Strip and how it was full of hippies in the 60s and full of love and life, but isnt anymore. And the "Sing another song and make me feel like I'm in love again" part is referring to all music in the 60s that was amazing and made you feel like you were in love. And "All in favor, sign a waiver" is sort of describing how things are today, everyone is politically correct and if you want to do anything you have to sign some sort of waiver saying you wont sue. I know thats probably not the interpretation Anthony meant for but its my interpretation. |

handicapable, not all change is bad. most bands get really boring after a while if they stay with the same type of songs all the time. yeah rhcp has changed, but their music still kicks ass. it shows their ability to make everything they play work.
that said, i absolutely love this song, its one of the best on stadium arcadium definetly. its actually one of the most straigthforward songs lyrically, i would agree that its about a relationship where the two people grew apart. i love the line "all the little things i used to hear my fairy say," the way i think of it, "fairy" is kind of an endearing word for the girl. the lines "But now your quick to give me the old regret/I’ll take a fall and now you got to give it all away" mean that she keeps making him regret things (his drug addiction, maybe?) and when he takes a fall she gives it all away and turns around and leaves him. |

i cant believe there arent more comments on this song, its so amazing. after someone close to me died i couldnt stop listening to this song. the piano and tom petty's voice are just so comforting. i think its about loneliness, going from one place to the next with no direction. the line "I'm so tired of being tired" definetly highlights the feeling of being so lonely and worn out. to me this song is the feeling being somewhere that doesnt feel like home, and you cant stay there long so you have to keep going, keep running around. |

i really love the part at the end of the video when dave just sort of settles into anthony's lap and anthony starts stroking his hair. i think it was soo cute and symbolic of the hardships anthony and the band have been through and how they need comfort.
and the kiss was definetlyyyy sexy. |

hands down one of their best songs, my personal favorite. people seem to think its a dark song but i think its really optimistic and mellow. i think its about healing and recovery...i dont like when people think every rock song ever is about drugs but id have to agree that this one is about drug recovery. the line "simple pleasures are more special/but i wont regret it never" (ive also seen it as "im much better/but i wont regret it never) reinforces that, i remember anthony said that he had a hard time with drugs but he didnt regret any of it. the line "today love smiled on me/it took away my pain, said please" is sort of the healing effect of love. and when he says "i got to gotta gotta take it slow," thats his realization that his lifestyle is sort of dangerous and he just needs to slow down and chill out.
