I don't think there are hidden meanings to the lyrics, I think they're basically straightforward. The first two kids have something they're embarrassed about, and probably picked on by their peers for being that way. Kids get picked on and embarrassed; that's normal. The third kid has it worse because his parents don't allow him to be a normal kid, to socialize with his peers and get picked on. He's the weird kid with the crazy christian righteous parents, that doesn't talk to anyone. And Finally, the lyrics aren't Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm. In fact they weren't actually even originally written in the song. They weren't actually sung until the final recording, when the singer was eating Campbell's soup in between stanzas and kept saying Mmm Mmm Mmm Good, Mmm Mmm Mmm Good. Once there was this guy who Couldn't sing without soup so the band went along But when he finally ate some They heard he couldn't help but say Mmm Good He couldn't quite explain it He'd always just loved soup. Mmm Mmm Mmm Good. Mmm Mmm Mmm Good. |
