Have you ever felt like someone was only friends or dated you out of pity or their own fear of rejecting you? I think thats what this song is about. Like the person he is talking to in this song, he can see right through...basically he is saying he wasted his feelings and time on someone who didnt actually care for him back and he wishes they would stop lying to him. Anyway, thats my take on it. It makes sense though. |

This is definitely one of my most favorite love songs. The lyrics are just beautiful and the music is very fitting. Basically, he is telling the girl he loves that even if they couldnt be together, he would do anything for her. God, wouldnt every girl love to hear that? |

I had never really heard of Jack's Mannequin until I was up one night with Insomnia watching MTV After Hours and this video came on and with all the stuff that had/has been going on in my life, this song brought me some peace of mind..and I havent gone a day without listening to this song since then.
As for the meaning, I personally think its about 2 people in a relationship that is falling apart, and they know it but regardless of the fact that it isnt working out, they will still be there for each other. The video in a sense is relative because you see these people in a dance contest trying to stay awake and holding onto each other trying to keep going but eventually some fall down which resembles giving up in the relationship but still trying to hold on.
It's something I can definitely relate to. |
