I think that this song is actually about physically standing. We kneel before God out of love and obedience. We can be knocked over by the world easier by kneeling, but in kneeling before our Lord Jesus Christ we are stronger and "stand" for something better than this world can ever give.

The song sounds like a baptism. He lives in this house by the river for a week, and it seems like the water cleanses him. The album reflects on people he hurt and new relationships made, but they all wash away. It's definitely a spiritual song and a great opener and closer to the album. |

This is an excellent story that reminds me a bit of the book "The Color Purple". The song has a way of making you an observer of this abusive husband's deserving demise. |
