This song borrows a rhythm from Randy Newman's 'Lonely at the Top', though strangely has completely the opposite meaning. The Ordinary Boys here are basically saying that when you're famous and rich, everybody is your friend, though often you don't remember who they are. Everyone has dirt to dish on you. Most importantly, though, being in the limelight all the time makes it impossible to find love. Even though he appears to have infinite friends, he is still lonely because he is so disconnected from them. I quite like the song. This is what the song means to me, anyway. |
