the song is about a lesbian prostitute, but we neglect to look at the reasoning to why she become a lesbian in the first place. and Mr. John explains this in the fourth line “And a simple case of Mummy-doesn't-love-me blues” in the late 60s and early 70s lesbianism was blamed on working mothers. people claimed that when mothers didn’t coddled or teach their girls the proper ways (cleaning house and baby making) it lead to lesbianism. so ha…wait…you already knew that? |
