| John Mayer – Friends, Lovers or Nothing Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I think the meaning is pretty obvious in the lyrics. I like all of Continuum better than this album though, because in Continuum there were a lot of cryptic lyrics where by singing about one subject he was actually referring to another. This album really doesn't do anything that hasn't been done by everyone before. It doesn't even feature a lot of the impressive guitar work that we all know John Mayer can do. | |
| Emarosa – Heads or Tails? Real or Not Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I could be wrong... This is just my own ideas mixed with the different versions I saw in other comments. You loved it when my heart dropped, It was something worth the wait, Full of concerns, You left, you went your way, These cuts that I’ve caused, Are never too deep to heal, Peel back the bandage, see a scar, From countless careless things. And they stopped to lift, and pulled away... Well nothing feels real anymore, I’m not taking my time anymore, To show you how I feel, To show you who I am. Cause it’s locked away. Need to find a night, and I thought, just walk away Now I’m towards the light, The dark has no place here, Now I’m towards the light, The dark has no place here. And I don’t feel wrong, and I don’t feel right, this place, it brings a light, And I don’t feel wrong, I don’t feel right. Well nothing feels real anymore, I’m not taking my time anymore. Now I’m towards the light, The dark has no place here, Now I’m towards the light, The dark has no place here. Well nothing feels real anymore, I’m not taking my time anymore, To show you how I feel, To show you who I am. Cause it’s locked away. The things we think about at night, Never will lose pace Now take the clothes to find something greater, This wall, this binding useless sense This higher ground, lets make a stand, Did you ever think that we would get this high, Pull back the sheets, to find an ending, That you prayed for. Now I’m towards the light, The dark has no place here, Now I’m towards the light. |

Lyric fix. "Let the wind carry you home Blackbird fly away May you never be broken again Beyond the suffering you've known I hope you find your way May you never be broken again Ascend may you find no resistance Know that you made such a difference All you leave behind will live to the end." Coming right out of the inside booklet on the CD. |

| Breaking Benjamin – Unknown Soldier Lyrics | 19 years ago |

During a war where a great many soldiers are killed, sometimes a single body is brought back as a representative of all those who died. He's called the "unknown soldier". In my mind, I see a war. The lead singer is meant to impersonate a soldier fighting on the battlefield, a soldier who has seen death and tragedies beyond anything he's ever experienced and is falling into a spiralling depression, kept alive only by his mechanical killing, but every life he takes tears a part of his soul away. "Borderline, dead inside, I don't mind falling to pieces" could support that argument. He feels numb to the pain, but cold inside, too. I think the chorus means he is trying to simplify and rationalize what he's seeing, and all the time while he fights for his life, inside he's desperately hoping for the one bullet that will end his misery. The ending of the second verse could signify his final collapse, where he's finally sacrificing himself for the life around him. "You'll be fine, I will get left behind." He's chosen to stay behind and fight. I think the bridge represents him being injured after being left behind to die as an unknown soldier, his bravery never noted or recognized in history. Its only going to hurt once, and then it will be over. It's only broken bones. And then the final scream after "Hide the hate inside" is the release of his anger as he rages into the battle, and once again time has become meaningless to him, and he prays for the end. ***In my opinion, Unknown Soldier should have been the next single by Breaking Benjamin rather than Breath. Its better written, and it really leaves you looking deep into yourself. It brings a tear to the eye at the reality of it all. |
