for me this song is describing the age old phrase "Live for the moment". It's saying that the past has happened and the future is irrelevant all that is important is what is happening right now so don't worry about it just be happy. I can see (if looked at in a very sarcastic way) how it could be interpreted as depressing but I think there are now depressing undertones. The only subtext here is that it may not only be talking about a bright sunny day but a happy time and how it is important to enjoy it. |

This is the first time I have ever seen people giving my view on this song. To me this song is the ultimate anti-love song. I think Dylan is saying "You've spent your entire life not caring about how your actions effect others so why start now." I think the reason I can relate to this song is because I can relate to it so well. The lyric "I once loved a woman, a child I'm told I give her my heart but she wanted my soul" this is the exact situation I have been in. I was in a longterm relationship with someone that is perfectly described by this. And even when It came to the fact that she cheated on me, she still couldn't see the error in her ways and didn't really care. I don't think I know a song that describes a personal feeling of mine so well. Thank Bob Dylan and thanks all of you for realiosing the pure sarcasm in what is usually described as a beatifull song.
