The Velvet Teen – Flicking Clint Lyrics 18 years ago
Another song about a gu and a girl.
"You complain, this heart's had it's beating"
Is the implication that the girl is hesitant in this relationship. She doesn't want to get trampled (again).
"But I will be your faith"
Implies that no matter how she feels, he just wants her to trust him, and let him lead her.
"Who knows when it will end"
I believe 'it' is meant to both imply the relationship and their lives, encouraging the "eat drink and be merry for tomorrow we die" attitude, and further encouraging this girl to just do what he says.
"You're going to live through me"
Is just one more line saying she needs to put her heart and life into his hands.
"And I will be over it/as soon as I can"
This is the callous remark implying that even if she does what he's requesting, he'll still split as fast as he can.
The title is obviously meant to imply a sexual relationship, but without love. Maybe the opposite of love.
"You choked/But I will not be as weak as your throat/I don't care/I was on your side/As soon as we met"
I think is directly implying choking during fellatio and he's saying he doesn't care because as soon as they met he was right there next to her wanting sex, and he wasn't going to be "weak" about his demands.
He hears her "complain" about being hurt before, but he doesn't care, he aggressiely convinces her to have sex with him, knowing that he'll leave at the first chance.
"I've known pain/but never as much as on my first day"
Is her talking about losing her virginity
"I don't care/I do not remember it/Soon I'll forget this as well"
Is his response to her, not caring that he hurt her, and not caring that he wouldn't even remember it.
"you are't going to live through this"
Is meant to emphasize how not only is this a very brief sexual relationship, but also that her heart will not live through what he knows he's done to her.
"But I will be over/As soon as I can"
At this point is meant to be sarcastic, because now he knoes that she knows that he really doesn't give a shit.
"Soon as we turn in"
May be the offer that he might actually show up again if she offers to go to bed with him again.

Universal Hall Pass – Misdirected Lyrics 18 years ago
Captain Obvious says this is a typical breakup song in a situation where she feels like she's been misdirected into believing this person knows her, so she feels obligated to get out of this relationship, and also adds a strong touch of bitter resentment over it. You get the feeling it was meant to be a "suprise, lover, I HATE YOU BYE! Now go, kthx."

You are no longer welcome
I've bought out your usual seats

Also implies that she already has a new lover lined up, just to further drive home that it is really over.

Ben Folds Five – Brick Lyrics 18 years ago
Also note the symbolism in "day after Christmas."
He just learned he has received this "gift," but he's going to "sell" it. Basically, he's taking the new life given to him and throwing it away.
I think the point of "for the moment we're alone/she's alone/and I'm alone" is to point out that on the way to wherever they went, there was three of them, and on the way back they can suddenly feel the absence of that third life.

Our Lady Peace – Automatic Flowers Lyrics 18 years ago
The last verse is missing:
"She'll never admit it
She never considered this
She always means better
She's wasting all her time"

Sara is a lonely girl who had a very specific dream of what she wanted when she grew up. She wants "flowers," a metaphor for her dream life, but her window is just a brick wall, meaning she didn't get exactly what she wanted. she wants to see the beauty out there but she feels like all she can get are the automatic flowers of her childhood book, which she keeps playing with, all alone, because she feels like that's the best she can do. the flowers are automatic because they always open on command, and she wants happiness to be at her command. Even though it is the best she can do, she just wants more, and she's frustrated that's she's not getting it. "her garden blooms, but sara can't see straight she's drinking herself blind" means that she has things that she should be happy about all around her, but she's too busy being self-destructive about not getting exactly what she wanted that she can't see it. "No one can help her find" means that no matter what anyone does, she will never see it. She's spending her life crying because she never got her ideal life. the last verse, "she'll never admit it, she never considered this" means she doesn't want anyone to know why she's so upset, despite the fact that it's obvious from her crying and drinking that she is. "she always feels better, she's wasting all her time" I am familiar with as what you think of when you have that depressed person who you ask if they are ok, but they never are, they just always say "I'll be ok" implying that they'll feel better later. It's like her always saying "I'll feel better later" but right now she's spending her time crying. She'll never feel better for real.

That's just my interpretation.
