Rise Against – The Approaching Curve Lyrics 19 years ago
Dude (strider911) you just hit nailed it man, I was expecting to be the first one to nail the entire description with the imagery and the metaphors and all. The midnight drive that he chooses to break up with her on, is definitely a reflection of their relationship and the way the story is told with the vivid descriptions is amazing. It creates this powerful scene in your mind that could be from a movie or something, the type of scene in a movie that brings a tear to your eye man. But the added benefit of having it being expressed through music is better understanding of the metaphorical connectiong between the road/drive and the relationship. These are definitely some of Rise Against's smartest and most beautifully written lyrics. They are like the model couple, perfect and happy, yet they are plagued with so many problems and it just isn't going anywhere so he calls it off, and the girl isn't strong enough emotionally to handle it and let go. She either was very emotional about it and she let it get the best of her and she got reckless on the road, OR, she was so emotionally unstable that their fight near the end was enough for her to get caught up in those emotions and in the moment, decided she would end both of their lives.

Rise Against – Survive Lyrics 19 years ago
It's not the problems in your life and all the hard shit you go through that make you different and special and unique, fuck that, you have problems, so does every fucking person on the planet, it's how you deal with these problems that makes you who you are.

Sounds like in addition to that there's a little story in there about someone who is on the verge of giving up because of all his shitty problems. His problems are beginning to be too much for him and he decides he's just going to give up on everything. Then it says that after just giving up on his hopes and dreams and quitting, he is having a good life now that there is nothing to give him problems and he's feeling better than ever before, but this is clearly not true as the song then goes into the "Life isn't like this" repeated over and over, stating that there is no real way out, and you really do have to 'survive' to find out who you really are and to be truly happy.

To the dude that said this song is about saying shut the fuck up to emo bitches, you're clearly wrong, and I suspect you have some sort of grudge against these people that is based on little more than the way that you have been conditioned to believe that they act. I know many people that have had the emo-label slapped across their foreheads, and these people aren't the whiny kids you make them out to be. In fact, they are all a lot more accepting and mature than the you, judging by your comment, and none of them claim to be dark and depressing with hard lives, they are all quite happy actually, and the style and music associated with them is only a representation of a scene, like it or not, emo is widely associated with hardcore and it's almost impossible to differentiate between the two, and the kids dress that way for the exact same reason hardcore kids dress a particular way, and it's to say and prove that it doesn't fucking matter if they don't fucking fit in, because they belong to something much bigger than themselves and much bigger than most people even know.

He Is Legend – I Am Hollywood Lyrics 19 years ago
I don't know the exact meaning, but this song makes me want to kick some ass and hxc dance like fuck. It's amazing live to, if you can resist the urge to jump into the pit and kick up some dust, then watch him as he belts out 'I AM HOLLYWOOD', i caught the first and last ones, i thought he was going to fold in half backwards or some scary exorcist shit like that.

Paramore – Never Let This Go Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is pretty simple, but there is a lot more to it then everyone here is saying. Please, there is a lot more to it than, "omgz this describes my relationship perfictly, omgz and the guy in the band is sooo hot!"

It is clearly about a failing relationship, and clearly one that's lasted a very long time. Both of them know it's not the same, but neither want to end it. They are not strong enough to end the relationship, so they continue to pretend everything is fine, which only hurts them.

It's possible that it's about a first love as well, as she says she'll never let this go, and first love is something that is important and that someone will always remember. But just because she says she'll never let it go and that she doesn't want to be alone does it mean she still loves him. She may still love him, but definitely not in the same way at all. She just can't imagine not being in the relationship, but she knows they've changed and that wanting to be in the relationship just because of the familiarity and security it brings is wrong.

Dave Melillo – This Is 2005 Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is definitely about graduating high school and not wanting to know where you're going, just that you want out

But, it is also about that one dude in high school, the one that is "cool", but also the one who has a future of domestic violence and alcohol abuse ahead of him, as he lives in his double wide, never giving up on his glory days of running this small town. The guy who you'll run into at the bar when you come back to visit, and he's still wearing his varsity jacket even though his belly seems to have outgrown it.

The verses are about that stereotypical person, no doubt. The choruses are about getting the fuck out, but not being sure what you want to do.
