this song is pretty self-explanatory. this dude gets sprung over this really beautiful girl. then things don't work out. and they break up. but he's still in love with her. and they start fighting and arguing. and she starts making up lies. and gets depressed and confused and starts having the urge to just kill himself. wonderful song. it's so true. especially the line: "Damn all these beautiful girls They only wanna do your dirt They'll have you suicidal, suicidal" |

I think iheartdanger's interpretation was pretty close... at least for the second verse This song covers a lot of unrelated topics... but I'll try to break it down as best as I can. Cee-Lo tries to use oxymoron's to describe himself. (i.e. "basically, i'm complicated) The first verse is just generally about himself. He views himself as a complex, complicated person. He notes that he acts different around different people or in different situations. "I'll be at least two people today" The second verse is completely unrelated to the first. It is just more random thoughts about his life. This time dealing with another person. (Most likely a love interest) This person is shallow, yet he still finds himself missing them. "I'm afraid cuz I have no fear" indicates that he lost this person due to the fact that he had no fear of losing them or making them unhappy. The third verse deals with other people, in general. Yet, it somewhat goes back to the topic of the first verse (about being a complicated person) He feels that everybody is trying to be "somebody" to fit in, but nobody really expresses THEMSELVES... "If I ever wanted to understand me, I'd have to ask somebody else" could relate to how he's trying to be somebody else, and to really understand "himself" (the person he's trying to become in order to fit in) he would have to ask the person he's trying to emulate. The chorus just affirms that the verses are just random thoughts on his life that he feels nobody should really care about. But he does, however, try to use them to make us (the listeners) think. |
