not my favorite song on the album but give it time and i'm sure i'll love it. I think he's kind of feeling like everyone is dissapointed in him. And so he becomes dissapointed in himself, even though he has no reason to and he thought he's done his best so far. It a really depressing song if you think about it. |

*crap* continued the next part is saying that they were all the same in high school, being the ones who were rebellious, and didn't pay attention, and that he doesn't care about they're problems but he wants to hear them anyway to rub it in their faces he was better than them all along, though this isn't true. The rest is just explaining they can't get him or get to him and he's just going to live his mundane stable life in this crap-ass town. |

i_love_you_not has a good point, as does everyone else. In each chorus the number of years changes which suggests to me a series of funerals. The first part is about a friend who died, and left behind all her friends it seems because she hated the change going on around her. The part after that is emphasizing this fact. Saying something like 'we are all gonna change and we're not who you knew. So who do you want to be?" It's tragic with a capital T is like saying it's very sad it has to happen, but it's just that, is has to. The chorus always suggests meeting someone whom you knew once at your friend's funeral and knowing that when this whole affair is over you are going back to work and live in the town which you grew up while they walk away to their lives out of the hell hole they were raised in. He will die in this place because he refuses to accept change and can't just move on with his life. |

Gerard Sings: 'What I'd Do Just To Get Back In Her Arms" And In The First Verse I Don't Actually Know What He Says But It Doesn't Sound Like He Says "When They Run For Him" That Aside, grayce Had A Very Good Point. Mine Is A Tiny Bit Different. I Feel Like MCR's Fans, The Kids Whose Parents Sort Of Don't Always Have Their Best Intersets At Heart, Are Looking Up To This Band As A Way Out Of Their Sort-Of Shitty Lives. Gerard(Or Whomever Is Supposed To Be Telling The Story) Knows This And He Tries To Help Them. The Second Verse Is His Fans Talking To Him. They Depend On His So Much, They Are Asking If He Would Just Leave Them In Whatever Mess Their In. He Finally Decides He Just Wants His Old Life Back, Before He Was A Hero To All These Kids. So He's Talking To Someone, Telling Them He'd Do Anything To Just Be Back In An Old's Loves Arms. The Fans Realize This And Get Upset, And He Tries To Tell Them What His Band Was All About In The First Place. They Don't Understand, And he Just Tells Them That He Needs To Take Break, He Can't Be Their Hero Anymore, And Not To Cry About Him Because Things Have To Get Better. When I First Heard the Song I Also Got The Feeling It was Written From Gerard To Mikey =/ |
