Tool – Parabol Lyrics 19 years ago
A Parabol antenna for receiving TV signals from a satellite in case anyone was wondering. An object that is propelled away from the Earth and then drawn back by gravity, such as a fly ball in baseball, follows a path shaped like a parabola. So do TV signals.

Hmm imagine that.

Opeth – Reverie/Harlequin Forest Lyrics 19 years ago
Mike uses the word Harlequin as both the meaning that rude_ridims describes and as a joker. He sees the trees as idividuals with independent thought. The character portrayed throughout the Ghost Reveries record is suffering from dillusions for many reasons. Particularly because he is in a state of panic since he's been charged with murder.

The trees have faces to him. The devil is basically contacting the character through them to persuade him to cause an increasing amount of self-loathing as a pathway to other hatred, whether it be on himself or other entities.

Opeth – Patterns In The Ivy (Part 2) Lyrics 19 years ago
The manifestation selection of the song pertains to conscious feelings, ideas, and impulses that contain repressed psychic material. It's almost as though Mike is trying to describe a short dillusion before dying. Not dying literally but more of a subconcious/metaphorical statement.

"Is this the end..." is him not talking about himself but about another as though he is skeptical of thier departure.

Mike describes a loved one whome he is very close to passing on. In the second verse he's describing what this other character was like personality wise whilst still living. "A final word from me would be the first for you" states how he is essentially loved in return because the other character listened while he spoke and cherished it like he did they.

Mike's daughter hadn't been born yet when this song was written/recorded.
