i think this song is about how the american dream was to have this perfect little quaint house, with a perfect little yard, and a perfect family, and all these "perfect" things that would make one "happy" but americans got obbsessed with money and making it, so they sacrificed "perfect happiness" for money, and this song shows how pointless it is to do that because those things don't matter as he demonstrates by saying that the factories that were once made to make someone rich and now they are abandoned because people found out that money and riches won't make you happy. this song pretty much just shows how the american dream is broken. |

i have a question, how come all you people who claim to have an "open mind" about everything, when it comes to Christianity and God you people are always so adamant about his non-existence? everytime the subject comes up you don't take your "open minded" approach you only say "FUCK GOD HE DOESN'T EXIST!!!!" and you leave it at that, i was just wondering why would you claim to have an open mind if you are just going to shut out a belief like that? and if you say you do have an open mind about it, then why do you answer everything with "god doesn't exist"? why are you so prejudiced against Christianity when in reality you don't really know anything about it? and why are you holding people up to standards that you don't even hold up? just a few questions i'd like answered. email me or IM me if you want to reply. thank you

i like this song, but i think the acoustic version is better, and the song makes me a little sick to my stomach, as i think it would anyone who gets out of a really crappy relationship recently, and when i listen to this song it really makes me realize how much guys think they need girls and they are going to shrivel up and die without a girlfriend, it seems to me that females have kind of become gods of the modern world, guy's worship them, set up website tributes to them, put pictures up on walls of them, have whole entire magazines dedicated to them, it reminds me a little bit of how the ancient greeks built temples to the gods. i personally don't see the point in it, you get a girlfriend, she breaks your heart and you're all hurt and yada yada yada, and then you think "oh i'll find another girl that will help!!!!!!!!!!!!" even though you know they're going to do the exact same thing as the girl before, so why waste your time on something like that, and by having a girlfriend is it going to prolong your life? and benfit you in some way? you're just going to end up dead at the end of your life anyway, so that's my thoughts on life. feel free to email me or IM me if you want to talk about it, or send me hate mail or something. thank you.

people should comment on this song, this is a great song, i think it's one of kris' most heartfelt songs, it's about how he got a letter from a kid in the hospital hwo had cancer and she told him how much his music helped her get through everything and how much she appreciated it, and this is his reply to her, which is why he called it My Reply. |

what makes the atari's emo texticle? they're pop punk with emo influences but they're mostly pop punk, if you really wanted to label them emo you could just slap the old power pop label on them, since that's more what they are than just regular emo, i'm not saying i don't like them, i love them, but they're not emo. |

(i know the band isn't a christian band, but i understand that dustin is, and since he writes the lyrics i'm going off of what i see in them) i think he's talking about worldy ideas that deny God (i.e. evolution) and how they slowly seep into our minds and "rule out" the thought of God to the point that we eventually deny his existance. |

this song is about a guy who sees lots of problems in his current relationship hence the "tonight will be the night that we begin to ease the plugs out of the dam" and he's planning on working out those problems, sink or float, and their legs quivering when the water is rising from the dam is their fear of losing each other and they just let go to see how things work, them floating on their back is them traveling through life and the rocks scraping their backs is the problems in the relationship that are happening on a regular basis, and he feels like the relationship is hollow and has no substance to it so the air is the only thing that they share, and yada yada yada, the second half of the song is about life in general, the vessel floating down water ways is you going through life and shtuff, the actor on stage is representation of life also and coming out at the end of the "play" and taking a bow cuz you know you lived it well is the person at the end of their life looking at their accomplishments and being proud of what they did in life, that's my interpretation of this song, this song is by far the best song that chris has ever written, if i ever met the guy i'd like pay for him a nice ass dinner or something just to congratulate him on writin gthis song, this song frickin rocks. |
