I think this song is about a guy or a girl in a relationship with someone that can't commit. The lines "As the sunshine's day/Brings hope to most/I still wanna be with you" make me think that only after dark will she commit, but the next day he/sahe re-thinks it and avoids the other person, hence "I feel separation." Also, "When the light that hits the room starts fading/A subtle whisper in my ear is all I'm asking" makes me think that even at night he/she still won't be close to the narrator... but the "I still wanna be with you" obviously means the narrator still wants to be with the other person even after all the pain from "separation" he/she has caused. It could be that even when the two are together, the narrotor still feels "separated" from his/her partner... even though "When she looks up she sees a rainbow," or ignores the narrator, he feels the pain and she doesn't care. |

To me, I think this song is about the narrator comparing winning a girl's heart to conquering a city in ancient times. This song is from A Knight's Tale, I'm pretty sure it was played during a jousting scene that he tried to prove himself to the princess he wanted... |
