| Owl City – Rainbow Veins Lyrics

This might just be my thoughts, but I somewhat believe this song is about drugs. Maybe not the entire thing, well, actually definitely not the entire thing. But a lot of it seems to be referencing drugs, maybe not exactly doing drugs or anything like that, but "High rise, veins of the avenue" , "And cold nights make staying alert so hard For heaven’s sake, keep me awake so I won’t be caught off guard" , "And I’ll blend up that rainbow above you and shoot it through your veins Cuz your heart has a lack of color and we should’ve known" and a few other lines seem like drug references to me.
But I also definitely get the "puppy love" interpretation. Either way, Owl City is amazing and so is this song. |

Anyone who hasn't seen the movie, Gacy, really should. It's amazing, very disturbing, but amazing. I had seen the movie before I even knew who Sufjan Stevens was. So when I heard this song I was like, "Huh, I wonder if it's about the same Gacy," which was stupid, because how many John Wayne Gacy Jr.'s were serial murders and dressed up as clowns? Anyway, my point is this song's extraordinary, and everyone should see Gacy. |

I also think that he was sick of his music being apart of that corporate industry that fat nofx kid was talking about. hense the line "I'm anemic royalty" that, in other words, is I'm not really that big of a deal. |

Pennyroyal tea is something that heroin addicts drink to ease the pain of being off of heroin. This song is probably just about him feeling that pain and relying on the tea. |

I agree with most of the above posts. I think this song gives another meaning to the saying "You don't know what you got till it's gone".
I definitely think it's about a girl loving a boy who may or may not love her back. If he does not love her then it's easy to see that he never really even saw her, he just kept on going. And then there is the possibility that he just led her on to make her think he did care for her and took her for granted and kept her on the side, or in Joshua Radin's words "kept [her] in a safe place".
then, when she finally did move on, the boy realized how much she really did mean to him.
So sad, but unfortunately happens a lot. it happened to me. I see myself as the boy and my ex-boyfriend as the girl, because he loves me so much, and I know that. but I never really let myself love him. and now that it may be too late I realize that he is more amazing than I could have ever asked for. |

| Joshua Radin – The Fear You Won't Fall Lyrics

This song means so much to me. My ex-boyfriend kind of dedicated this song to me. It fit perfectly, because I was scared that it was just something he was feeling for me at one moment and he would find someone else soon.
I was very reserved and I didn't show him that I could love him, and I didn't show him that I really did care as much as he showed me. I regret that so much, because he is so amazing and wonderful.
I think Joshua Radin puts a first love, or a first serious love into words just right. He knows how I felt, and many other people, too. |

I was reading these posts and I hadn't become a member yet, but I read the post written by ylimemi and I had to join to tell him/her that I loved your interpretation of this song. It was amazing to read and it made me feel at home, because I have lived in the south before (Alabama) and I miss those layed back days too.
p.s I agree with your interpretation. |
