Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Modern Romance Lyrics 19 years ago
i think this song is telling people who are stuck on their first love or someone they loved not to fool themselves since "there is no modern romance". This song is about how she fooled herself into thinking it could be real love or it could last but she realizes she was wrong and simply accepts it. ...I haven't learned to do that lol and holding on just makes you weaker so you have to "go get strong". Anyway I love this song. She's right though, there is no modern romance...

The Vanished – Anesthesia Winter Lyrics 19 years ago
i love this song, it really got to me. i love the chorus:
"So say to me what you hate to say
Before you push me away, before you push me away"
lol I made a guy I liked a mixed CD with this song
Anyway, I think this song is about two destructive people - probably a relationship. ("Well I can learn to love you / Just like you learned to hate me...You're like a razor blade with all the cuts that you make")
But I definitely get destruuctive/self destructive out of this song. Someone struggeling to love... to feel alive... "Do you need some anesthesia just to make it this time? ...So what are you so afraid of? / Is it to feel alive?"
Well that's what i think. Either way I LOVE this song, it ROCKS!!!
hopefully other people will start commenting it...
but thanks for posting the lyrics jealous_envy!!

Elefant – Sunlight Makes Me Paranoid Lyrics 19 years ago
oh yes i forgot to mention (although i did imply it) he's sort of an outcast (at least in the song)
he doesn't fit in society. at least in the sense that he doesn't feel he belongs in that type of society. ...this sort of reminds me of The Catcher In The Rye...

Elefant – Sunlight Makes Me Paranoid Lyrics 19 years ago
i liked your comments about this song and i agree that this song is GREAT, pretty lyrics (simply and yet pretty!), good beat, great music.
Anyway, I think this song is about someone who is afraid of the world...
"The sunlights making me feel paranoid
I look outside and see the world at war
The people laugh and play like they're alone
They're watching us while we sleep in our home"
he doesn't understand it so he isolates himself and shuts himself away but while doing so he also shuts out the one person he cares about
Also, he keeps himself in his own little world (away from society) but he needs that girl he shut out so without her HIS own world is incomplete.

...yeah cute song =)

Senses Fail – Choke On This Lyrics 19 years ago
hey there. well most of your theories on this song are good and make sense.... although personally i don't think this song is about a cheating girlfriend (at least not in my version - by that i mean personal version, not song release version - of this song).
To me it seems like it's about a guy who is destructive and saddistic doesn't believe in love or anything like that so he looks for a girl who's sort of a whore and someone who can't love him and won't expect him to love her. Someone who's a wreck and a total mess and who has emotional issues and stuff. He's with her and he doesn't really respect her because she doesn't respect herself (much like Lady In A Blue Dress, which is in the same albumb) and since HE has been in pain in the past and is at the point where he never wants to feel that again and the best way to relieve your own pain is to hurt someone else he hurts her. ...It's sort of like... she's his prostitute. Other than the sexual part he also gets pleasure out of her pain... but i don't think his own pain comes from his relationship with her but a past relationship. in fact, at this point he probably doesn't even feel pain anymore he's past that and now he probably just feels bitter (for a lack of a better word) and destructive.
As for:
So this love's been worn down
Like songs on a tape
This sex has lost all of its fun
Like gum loses taste
I guess that is because you can't be in a destructive, pointless, meaningless relationship forever.
there are parts of the song, like the james dean/sweet queen part and the part about the roses with the thorns, that make me think that they hurt eachother while pretending to love/care for each other in their relationship although they obviously don't because she's a whore - someone who can't love and has no respect for herself and looks for self validation in men, and he's destructive and saddistic.

Death Cab for Cutie – Photobooth Lyrics 19 years ago
i think this song, like many Death Cab songs, is about lust and infatuation. That's cool because I'm 16 and of course I've can relate to it. I'm sure many of you have too. You've been through a phase where you like someone a lot but at first you don't want to admit it and then you realize you do and fall for them and you have a FLING (which is what the whole song is about, a summer fling) but in the end you realize that's all it was... just a fling. It's like how many teenagers say "I love you" to their boyfriends/girlfriends and at the time they say it they think they mean it... this song is focuses on that time but at the same time fasts foward to the realization that it wasn't actual love... just infatuation.
Also it reflects on youth and being young and living life... a life that is a bit "mediocore" (much like the realtionship its about) but in the end you grow up/move on/realize it was just a fling, nothing more, nothing less, and accept it for what it was.

It's a bloody cool song. I love it!!!!
