The song is about the media; industry; the machine known as commercialism pushes music into the hands of listeners, with own fame and money as motives. a "shiny toy gun" is the exact opposite. It's a, and I quote Chad, "weapon of sharpness" which the band has entrusted us as listeners to rebel against the machine with. a "shiny toy gun" is a lyric without worldly motives. a "shiny toy gun" is a melody without worldly plot. the band stands for this, amongst other things. as they use the machine to their advantage to spread word of these weapons and teach others how to use them. the result is a new system of music. one that is clean and healthy to the soul. |
