| Saosin – Penelope Lyrics

i think it's definitely about a girl. he just spends the whole song using the metaphor of a goldfish. i think it's supposed to parallel the fact that the girl drowned, so he symbolically portrays her as a fish that swallowed air. note- i think this is the saosin version of the song. the pinback version was probably about a goldfish, but by changing the tempo and sound of the song, the same lyrics can be taken symbolically.
and for some reason it always makes me think of ophelia from hamlet |

the transvestite idea is interesting, but idk i just don't see it. i think it's about an unhealthy relationship. she's domineering, controlling, and bad for him in every way. but whenever he tries to break it off she makes him love her again, and he goes crazy when she's not around. the melody and the vocals just make it sound haunting and creepy and at the same time beautiful, just like the relationship the song describes. |

millie's right, the only word is orgasmic lol.
easily the most romantic song i've ever heard but he never says "love" once. it's just implied by the way he's talking about her.
he can't sleep on a hot summer night so he calls her and they spend the night roaming the streets together. the "purple yawns" reference means that they grow tired and want to go to sleep at dawn (the sky is purple just before sunrise. and i don't think you can knock someone out with perfume). it ties in with "when the sun comes out we'll go out again". they sleep during the day and spend the nights in the empty city together. and that's the way he likes it: "don't cool off, i like your warmth".
i love this song |

amazing amazing amazing song. i think "home" is like a state of happiness and peace when they're done struggling and they can relax. and after all their struggles when they've finally found home, they sit and watch other people going through the same thing and worry if they'll make it too, and they pray that they'll all find home some day. |

one of my favorite songs of all time. i know it's supposed to be about death but i think there's more to it, involving lost love. the way he sings "in your halls, i long to be..." i think it's about wanting to be, you know, inside of a woman (he makes it sound more beautiful than crude). he's waiting for her but she isn't coming, possibly because he had his chance and blew it ("i sat in regret...of all the things i've done"). he compares being in love to heaven and wants someone to be with him ("like a pagan to anyone who will take me to heaven"), and says he had it once with the woman he now misses ("i was there so long ago...and there you led me on").
basically i think it's about a dying man who realizes that he once hurt someone he loved and he wishes more than anything that he could undo what he did, because now that he's alone at the end of his life he realizes how important it is to have people who love you. |

| 3OH!3 – Don't Trust Me Lyrics

it's about cheating. a guy's in a band and he hooks up with all his groupies, but he can never have a real relationship because he expects everyone to cheat. partly because he does it to his girlfriends, and partly because the girls he meets have boyfriends but that doesn't stop them. he thinks everyone is promiscuous and dishonest so he might as well go along with it rather than trust someone and have that trust abused. |

| Kid Cudi – Pursuit of Happiness (Nightmare) (feat. MGMT & Ratatat) Lyrics

it's about just doing what makes you happy regardless of what other people think. he says "if i fall, if i die, know i lived it to the fullest" meaning that he doesn't care if his lifestyle is reckless or dangerous because he'd rather die happy than live miserable. and he tells people who doubt him that they don't know about dreaming or having nightmares, meaning that they don't understand the hardships he's been through or the hope that he has for a better life. they can't relate to him at all o they're in no position to judge him. |

above the comment box it says "what does this song mean to you?"...there just aren't words. i cried the first time i heard it. only song that's ever done that.
because people are asking, it's about that incredible time in your youth when you're old enough to have freedom but still young enough to have no responsibilities. for most people it's the best time of their lives because it's nothing but fun and hanging out with friends, never worrying about tomorrow. more importantly, the bittersweet aknowledgement that it won't last nearly as long as you'd like it to. before you're ready, you're 19 and either have a job or you're in college studying for your future career. and as much as it's fun to be in college or to be 21 and on your own, nothing compares to the summer after senior year of high school.
i relate to this song too much, it's scary, but i think everyone does. i especially like "we'll stay awake through summer like we own the heat" and "the low fuel light's been on for days, it doesn't mean anything". nothing sums up a young summer like driving around with no gas, staying out all night, and always feeling like you're on top of the world.
i miss it. as life moves on you find happiness in other places, but it's always nice to listen to this song and remember. |

| Ray LaMontagne – Be Here Now Lyrics

this is undoubtedly one of the simplest, most powerful, and most amazing songs i've ever heard. i can listen to it over and over whenever i feel like crap for any reason. it's what i need to hear at those times: slow and sad, so i relate to it, but with an uplifting message.
it's about finding the strength to overcome personal hardships. i think "be here now" is a call from the struggling person to their own inner strength. instead of calling for someone else to be with them, they're facing things themselves but they are sort of praying to themselves for the ability to do it alone. |

if it weren't for the voice at the end saying "he cheated on me with another woman", i would never have thought this had anything to do with cheating. i think it's about an overall abusive relationship, with cheating as part of the guy's mistreatment of the girl. when he says "come in closer", it sounds innocent, like he loves her, but then gradually it becomes more frustrated, and at one point he says "i want you to" in a very threatening way, like he's forcing her to come in closer...idk i really like the song but most of the lyrics make no sense to me |

it seems to me to be about isolation and loneliness in general...the way he says "so you think you can tell..." is kind of a challenege, like he understands something that no one else does, and "wish you were here" is his desire to have someone like him, someone who sees the world the way he does...idk i think of a lot of their songs this way so maybe its just a stigma i have...great song though |

| Pink Floyd – Eclipse Lyrics

i think that it's about insanity, which is a recurring theme of the whole album. in ancient times the moon was associated with insanity ("lunacy" comes from the greco-roman moon goddess Luna), and so the final lines really sum up the song and the album because they say everything under the sun is perfect and orderly and "in tune", but the sun is eclipsed by the moon (insanity), so nothing is as it should be |
