| Missed opportunities I can really relate too (caught a bolt of lightening curse the day he let it go), there was a girl I'd longed for and felt I had in my grasp but just didnt find the courage to confine in her how I felt. The song can be interpreted both ways I think i.e. by the person who has left and the person who regrets. I listened to this song alot at a time when I did suffer a breakup which had been very much a result of deceit and unfaithfulness on my partners side, we tried to work it out but for both of us it had changed everything in our relationship and I had to leave her: the song had a reverse meaning to me, I felt she had blown a really good thing, something which once had a future 'caught a bolt of lightening curse the day she let it go', it was very much that she had made me feel a 'nothingman' because of her actions in being unfaithful. The song of course is a reverse to this, it is a case of becoming a nothingman because of ones own actions rather than his/her partners, which I think is even sadder and difficult to live with. | |

This song strikes a huge chord in me. I was once in this relationship where the games of manipulation played on me by this girl were tearing me apart, she would openly talk about wanting to meet other guys and sleep with them just to make me feel jelous, defeated and a failure to her. I tried to walk away from the relationship a few times but Im ashamed to say that there was this sick and blind attraction which seemed to bring me back to her each time ("still I will take a car to be with you"). Anyway when I finally woke up I was thinking 'What does this girl really mean to me and the answer was nothing ("I dont love you"), I didnt feel the need to fight for her ("why should I compete with other guys")' and after I dumped her I felt bloody great too ("I dont miss you"). One of the last things she said to me was I know you better than you know me you always come back to me ("of course you think you know me, know me").......I never went back to her.....good ridence!! |
