| Why wasn't this an enormous hit? This was one of everyone's favorite 3 AM dance party songs freshman year in college. | |

what you would prefer everyone to just say "I Luv this song it touches me in that special place over and over?," which is essentially what most comments here are saying. This site is about discussion and interpretation: you are entitled to yours and I am entitled to mine. I mean come on, Jay Z does the cliche "fuck the haterz" intro which its obviously completely ridiculous |

Like many Fall Out Boy songs, this one is self-referential to the point of parody. FOB was never meant to be taken seriously and this song is further evidence that the band is, in fact, a joke. They poke fun at the emo scene and even their own fans with lines like, "cry on the couch all the poets come to life" and "every dot coms refreshing for a journal update" The band is laughing at those who do take them seriously (far too many people), especially the fact that listening to them can "take all your problems away" and "fix [you] in 45" (which is about the length of this album) When they say that they got mediocre reviews, "threes across the board" they aren't lashing out at critics, they're making fun of YOU for buying their album. Yes, FOB is that cynical. Of course, all of this is basically lost in the extremely fun and catchy melody, which will have everyone and their little sister singing along regardless of the lyrics... |
